1) Soak all the dried fruit in sherry/brandy/whisky/rum. (optional, but essential IMO )

2) Cream marg and sugar.

3) Beat in eggs.

4) Fold in flour, ground almonds and mixed spice.

5) Mix in fruit and make a wish.

6) Place mixture in a greased and lined cake tin. Wrap brown paper or newspaper around the sides of the cake tin (stops the edges burning).

7) Bake at 130°C for a few hours until a skewer comes out clean.

As an alternative, add up the quantity of dried fruit and use the equivalant weight of dried fruit mix that you can get in supermarkets. I always put extra cherries in too as r.mac suggested.

Have made countless cakes by that recipe over the years and had plenty of compliments, and used it for my wedding cake.

3 - I like to think my muff would match but it might not fit! So not really a reason to buy it.....as others have cleverly pointed out to me I can get a nice new one that does match and fit

I've also bought two soft cloth books (he loves the one he has) for £2.50 each (darn amazon and it's 'other people bought this') all for "free" thanks to nectar, shop and scan and swagbucks :money:

I think I need to do some experimenting with that bottle warmer, it does say you can use it to warm baby food.

OMG when did it get to almost 2pm!! this is what I get for only getting up at 10am what am I going to do for tea tonight.... Pension bloke coming and I don't know when, stupid husband didn't tell me, just said I need to tidy (in a nice way but for some reason that sounds like he didn't )

I meant I don't know when to make it for so we aren't eating when he comes. I think it'll be bolognaise, I can give it to the boys early and just do our pasta once pension bloke has gone

really am going now.

ETA - grr forgot the whole reason i come on this morning was to ask Beenie/3, do you have a furminator for your dogs? I'm thinking of getting one for Patch's Christmas present but I'm not sure what size, do I need the long hair one too? he only has the usual springer long hair on his ears and flanks.
