CAFC - they all do things at different times. I was just saying to someone else that Charlotte was still flat on her back at 10 months, yet James was walking at 9 months. However James barely said a word until he was 3, but Josh and Charlotte were advanced with speech. James could ride a bike without stablisers at 3, Josh only learned when he was 10 and Charlotte hasn't shown any interest at all in bikes yet! They all get there in the end though, so just chill and enjoy him. When Alice was that age, in the little time she wasn't being fed etc. or having a nap I deliberately made sure I wasn't doing stuff with her all the time because I didn't want her to end up expecting me to be always doing stuff directly with her. Obviously I did stuff with her some of the time but I also used to put her in the bouncy chair (or bumbo or high chair as she got a bit older) with a toy to watch while I was doing things and would just talk to her about what I was doing.
I was the same as that! I think it helps with their speech if you talk about what you are doing as they are learning the names of items even if they can't say them. Even if I was doing something boring like cleaning the bathroom, I'd put Charlotte's bouncy chair in the doorway and give her a running commentary on what I was doing.beckyandjack wrote: »
has anyone got a yummy christmas cake recipe?
I've got one somewhere. I'll dig it out and post it later.
It's a special recipe as I was given it by my Great-Nana, who probably got it from her mother, and so on! She used to make a lovely Christmas cake every year and I used to love going to see her as a child and sitting round her coal fire eating Christmas cake with a tiny glass of ginger wine. Here I go again on my own....0 -

Not read back yet but can I have some opinions please?
I'm going to buy my petite star zia and I don't know whether to get red or sky blue
I'm worried the blue would be too boyish for any subequent babies who might need to use it! I really really want the berry but it's £25 more so I'm being strong!
ETA my footmuff is a purple graco one which may or may not fit! I guess it doesnt go too well with either really lolMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -

i love the berry too, not that i'm encouraging your spending........0 -
Gill I wanted to get the Berry one, but it was out of stock when we got ours. I like the blue better - I would quite happily put Izzy in a blue buggy, but if that is something that would bother you then go for the red one

Poor Poppy was sick as a pig last night but thankfully she appears fine this morning. Jamie woke up too so they were both downstairs for an hour at 3am (while DH cleared the sick _pale_).
Still woke up at their normal 7:30am though and neither want an afternoon nap!
Hope all mummies and babies are well
