Sorry to hear that Aless :(

T's jabs went amazingly well! We had some older, very experieced nurses who were fab with babies. They made him feel so comfortable that he didn't even feel the first one, then we just had a small cry after the 2nd and another small cry after the 3rd. within a few minutes he was laughing and blowing raspberries at them lol.

He fell asleep in his car seat so I have just transferred him to his cot but he's crying now so that didn't go quite so well! I seem to remember him being really sleepy after the last jabs so just going to give him 5 minutes to see if he settles again.

Aless that is ridiculous. If they needed it to be a car driver then fair enough, but they should have said so to start with! They need to go on SS's list.

Yes on both accounts - the original job description never mentions driving, the role gives the impression of being solely office-based, and it was never mentioned in the interview. That annoys me, but the chief thing actually was a separate issue of them having a ridiculous residency requirement beyond what even, for instance, the police or something would require!

Sorry about the job Aless, they are idiots!
  • Oh Aless - you must be fuming (or are you a teeny bit glad?).

Hope T is okay after his jabs Gill.

EA - lol at Lily and the pringles and  at ex-work.

Will have a look at that book MacSmiler, thanks. We still love the 'That's not my...' series - I know them off by heart (we have 3) and Benjamin can pick out which book I am quoting to him off the shelf :D He has a thing about pulling the flaps off lift the flap books which makes me  so I have put them away for only reading with mummy.

Aless thats really awful about job.

Gill - hope Thomas isnt too bad after jabs

Like the look of those books but think they maybe too old for William - very hard at the moment trying to work out birthday/Xmas pressies for him that arent the same as what we have for Henry but dont want him to feel left out and have too many 2nd's from him

Found this 'laptop' that we may get for Henry now

Has anyone ever 'weighed in' old clothes?

L's school does a collection a couple of times a year and sends big blue bags home. We take them to school full of old stuff, and someone collects them and normally pays school around £300 for the PTA.

My little sister tells me there is a place opened near her that takes your old clothes and pays you by weight for them. I can't find any details on google, but I have three large black bags full of stuff not good enough for ebay, and wonder if it's worth taking them down there, or keep hold of them for the next school collection. I cba going down there if it's to earn 50p. :rotfl:

Ooh, i've just remembered. I went to the tip this morning with other junk, and cleaned the junk out of the car while I was there. I got a pile of papers out of the drivers door cubby, and found a tenner. :j
I sell mine to Kash for Klothes. They collect round here and pay 40p/kg IIRC. I think I got more than £5 (but less than £10) the time I had three big bags as I remember getting a five pound note.

MFD, we have those books as well and they are great. We also very much the Mr Croc series, but the pop-ups are too tempting for grabby little hands, so they are only read with mommy & daddy's supervision ;).

I'm not really a tiny bit glad about the job only because the realisation of not having any money coming in is far worse than thinking about finding childcare :(. Of course, after tomorrow (my visa appointment) I'll be able to apply for Jobseeker's Allowance *roll eyes*.

  • EA - can you send a letter to the address you worked at addressed to HR, asking for your p45? Then it should get to someone who can help.

There is a small child singing baa baa black sheep very loudly outside. I wonder if he knows everyone in all the flats can hear him :rotfl:.

Susan - the side effects of antihistamines can be atrocious. Benadryl one a day caused a seizure for me. It still amazes me that you can buy them off the shelf (not even over the counter) when they can have such dramatic (and apparently not uncommon) side effects.
My dad nearly had a house fire in the days before the non-drowsy ones. He said he came home and put something in the grill and then fell asleep. Fortunately he woke up in time.
