The charge per month is £3.99 - this covers all local and national calls (starting 01 and 02), unlimited time (ie no 4 hours per month cap). With the current offer, they refund the £3.99 per month onto your bill each month for a year - sign up with the other deals identified earlier and you can bring the costs down even more (intro £20, etc).

The only way I can see this being a problem or not worth the 5 minutes of effort to complete the application is if you are currently on a better deal which includes completely free calls all day every day for no fee...

Does anyone know on BT whether the Identity Withheld facilty works through the Onetel system (ie can you ensure that your number is hidden?).

I phoned today to the number that Martin gave and told them that I was leaving so I have 12 months free evening calls from 7th March. I said that I knew someone who was getting Leisure Talk and he was an existing customer so the fellow gave me the Leisure Talk also.

As far as I can see, I am still better off using onetel even with the £3.99 charge arnt I??? I didn't realise NTLs prices were so high. (The prices here are from the 321 Call Plan with NTL)

If you're better off not using NTL for calls, why stick with them? Go back to BT and get cheaper calls via 18866 BT price plan (ie free calls all day every day with 1p connection.)

In the meantime, might be worth signing up for 1899 (https://www.1899.com) since their UK calls are free, even to NTL/etc customers, although the connection charge is 3p.
  • I phoned the Indian callcentre (which reminded me of bad experiences of Tiscali's indian call centre) as I was a OneTel dial-up internet customer about 3-4 years ago. I was told I couldn't sign up online as I was an existing customer (yeh right!) but he could sign me up over the phone & only give me £10 worth of calling credit instead of £20. I declined. Missing out on Greasypalm cash back aswell. !!!!!!
  • I am currently with Talktalk, getting free evening and weekend calls as well as calls to USA, Canada and Australia. I do have family in Canada, so have used this occasionally. This should be £4.99 per month but I have it free for 12 months (until Oct I think).

Key rule with all introductory offers: find out and make a diary/calendar note of when it expires!

When you need to start paying for calls to USA/Canada, use 1899 - https://www.1899.com - as they charge a flat rate of 3p per call. £4.98 would buy you 166 calls (over 5/day assuming £4.99/month).

    Hi,
I am currently with Talk Talk on my BT line. I've been with them some time, and the package is quite an attractive one.

I have free evening and weekend LOCAL calls (up to 4 hours per month), with no monthly fee. It's difficult for me to work out whether I will be better or worse off using One Tel for ALL calls free. Does the £3.99 charge kick in eventually, or does it continue to be free when you sign up this way? (Most of my calls are local, but not all)

    Thanks

    rumbly

I don't quite understand your package with TalkTalk as their packages include National as well as Local calls? Nor do I understand the 4 hours per month, so I would suggest you phone TalkTalk and tell them you will move to Onetel unless they switch you to TalkTalk 1+, which will give you free UK calls evenings and w/ends for a during of 70 minutes per call.

And perhaps sign up for 18866 for any daytime calls you might make!
  • Does the free evening & weekend calls with One Tel also work if you do not have a BT landline

Are you sure - I am on NTL and have had no problem signing up for this service? Rather than Carrier Pre-Select they send you a Phone.Pal pre-dialler. The offer online does not say only for BT customers - perhaps Martin could clarify the policy on behalf of NTL/cable customers please?
