I'm afraid OneTel is going down hill fast and the main cause appears to be the standard of 'service' customers are receiving from their Indian Call Centre.

As a result, I'm just waiting for the next offer of free evening AND weekend calls to come along from another company and I'll vote with my feet.

At the moment I just use OneTel for the free weekend calls so they're not making anything from me.

Yeah, me too, don't know how much longer they can offer this, though!

Well, into May and Onetel have now finished this offer so I guess the time has come to unsticky this thread...
The free evening & weekend still exists for British Gas customers only though. You wouldn't get the £20 signing online credit though.

For those that are on British Gas and are interested in the free evening & weekend then see British Gas's website.

Would you still be able to use 18866 with the British Gas deal?

Also is there a geographical or freephone number to sign up for this? (I'm enquiring for someone who doesn't have Internet access.)

I think so (it's OneTel and, on standard OneTel CPS, I do).

Their site only shows 0845 600 6113 (1p/minute from a BT line at weekends).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If you visit SayNoTo0870.com and search for British Gas, you'll see several entries for them.

Seeing the comments about stopping free calls, I welcome other people checking this one out, but I've been with Justdialsaver.com for ages since Martin recommended them a fair time ago. I've always used 18866 or 1899 but had justdial sitting in the background as a CPS to catch any 'misdials!'
Looking at their site now, the Justdialsaver lite package seems to be offering free weekend and evening calls up to 2 hour duration as part of the free lite package.
It does seem too good to be true.........but you never know!
    try and look at https://www.justdialsaver.com
