I am an existing Onetel customer and signed up for this deal last month, but had not been credited with the £3.99 on my last bill. I phoned their customer support team earlier this week and after explaining that I signed up online and for some reason had not been credited, the cs put me on hold for a few minutes, came back and apologised and applied the credit to my account. No argument, no threatening to leave required, good result and good customer support.

i have just logged into my onetel account (see my other post, 3 posts up) to check if all is in order. i have been charged £3.99 but i am suppose to have it free. i rang up onetel in mumbai and they said i would be be charged but my other non free call charges will be off set against. well looking at bill again and thats not been the case. there is nothing in my account to say i have LeisureUKCalls free for 12 months. what is going on? onetel are not making things clear here and their offshore helpline people are not very good at putting my mind at rest.
thanks to everyone who has thanked me!

Just a quick warning for those signing up to this offer. If you read the T&C of the One.Tel accounts it does say the following:
3.4 If you are a Line Rental Services customer and elect to use another provider for some or all of your calls we may at our sole discretion decide to (i) bar your use of indirect access codes, (ii) charge you a higher fee for your use of the Line Rental Service or (iii) disconnect the Line Rental Service.

I don't have any past experience with this company so I don't know if they would really act upon it but I would suggest for safety you might want to make calls to 18866 and 1899 etc. through BT/NTL rather than through One.Tel

I was with Onetel for a year using 18866 for International and daytime calls with no problem at all. In fact TalkTalk have the same in their T&C and have never implemented it either despite the fact that my monthly bill with TalkTalk averages 5p.

You can of course over-ride Onetel by using 1280 to go via BT then dial 18866 but its a bit of a faff ;)

I transferred from Telco (onetel company using CPS) to Ontel on 1st March. I have mainly used 18866 service. However this morning I got a letter from Ontel that BT notified them that the CPS option for my number was switched off. However I have never contacted BT to switch the CPS service, just joined up with Ontel with my details.

I have checked my on-line bill but the last call was made on 7th March. I don't recall using the phone with Ontel much as I make most of my calls during the day, but I am sure some were made, and cant be certain as other members of the house may have made additional calls.

If I haven't gone on CPS, then I wonder why, is BT deliberately trying to keep my as a customer? I don't use BT for several years now. I certainly never at any time want to use that monopoly.

I cant ring Ontel yet as they appear to only work Mon - Fri, so it looks like I will have to wait until Tuesday.

No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you

I have just rung Onetel on 0207 1819966 and was answered immediately by a human beingicon7.gif

I rang the Indian help, thanks. They confirmed to me that I am on CPS, despite the letter claiming otherwise.

I think what has happened is this, that the Ontel letter is from Ontel (Telco) as the account is under my wifes name, however having spoke to Ontel this account is under my name.

However what makes this rather odd is that the online bill from Ontel only has up to 7th March. I no not many calls were made but I am sure some were made.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

Hi - I have been with Toucan since December 2004 - is it quite easy to switch to Onetel to take advantage of the free calls. Do I need to contact Toucan first and cancel, or can I simply apply online and let onetel do the rest

    Thanks

Are you sure you're not tied to Toucan for 12 months (I thought that was standard)?

If not, my experience of changing CPS provider is that you get the new provider to do the work for you and don't bother contacting the old one yourself (unless, of course, you want to try a little bargaining).
Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
    They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").
