I just tried to sign up and found that I count as an existing customer even though I closed my account with them a couple of years ago. They told me I would have to sign up over the phone, so no rpoints.

I had trouble signing up online so rang their number. They couldn't give me the greasy palm kick back but did give me another £12.50 of call credits instead (in addition to the £20). HOWEVER their call centre guy didn't seem that brilliant so I whether this all goes smoothly remains to be seen!
  • So can someone recommend me?

If I understand correctly, if someone recommends me to Ontel I will get an additional £20 on top of the £20 free call credit (and 3.99 per month charged and then refunded)?

    Is it really that simple???????

With Onetel, NOTHING is simple. But you can always give it a go. Be prepared to argue, though.

  • ...in which case....will an exisitng customer please recommend me?
I don't know anyone who is a customer (not that I don't have any friends...they are just not so 'switched on' when it comes to money-saving!)...would anyone like to be my new friend?????????

I want to join 1899.com after just signing up with One.tel. Can I do this and would it be better to be referred? If so, can anyone refer me. Thanks!

There is no referral fee for joining 1899, just very cheap calls.

Any referral offers will be found on the Referral Board.

i just rang onetel as an existing long time customer and kicked up fuss about this offer. after several put on holds and then passed over to supervisor he offered me the 12 months leisureUK free evenings i then requested the £20 credit too, he wouldn't offer this but after a fair bit of hangling he offered £5 free credit i tried uping it to £10 with no joy so settled for a fiver. may well have got the £20 if i said i will go ahead and cancel then but i didn't take it that far. i'm content with my deal. i signed up with call18866 too this week so i'm making good savings on calls now. i love this site.
thanks to everyone who has thanked me!
