Signed up to onetel last month after seeing offer  . Found I was being billed £3.99 so phoned to query. Told offer was only available to BT customers, though does'nt state that in the add. Anyone else had this problem ? :mad:0

I am an existing customer and their system let me sign up on my existing number I have printed off the shopping basket showing a plan change to LeisureUKTalk at a Monthly Total of £0. I read and re-read the T's and C's and there was no mention of the offer not applying to existing customers.
I received my bill a week or so ago and it included a charge of £3.99.
I called them up and they just continually stated that the offer was only for new customers.
I asked why this was stated nowhere in the sign-up process - Answer - It is only for new customers.
I asked why this was stated nowhere in the T's and C's- Answer - It is only for new customers.
I asked if she could point me to anywhere that stated the offer was not for existing customers - Answer - It is only for new customers.
I asked if she could explain why I had a print out of the checkout (a receipt) showing the price of £0 - Answer - It is only for new customers.
I asked her if she was concerned that her company was breaking their contract and thereby committing an illegal act. Answer - It is only for new customers.
I guess their stonewalling is a way of ignoring the issue that they have messed up !To infinity and beyond!0 -
Ask to be put through to their customer retention department' as advised by Martin. I did this after I was refused and told them I was leaving and I was offered the 'leisure talk' immediately.0

Looks like OneTel have caved in...
http://www.onetel.co.uk/index.php/promo
"Leisure UKTalk plan FREE for a year when you sign up online today" is listed for both New & Existing Customers.
Another small victory for this website?!0 -
KGM - more power to my elbow! I had only just sent them a message asking why I had been charged £3.99/no call credit based on WiseStewards commentary above about availability to all customers. I await their response before I now point this one out! (note - printed to pdf for safety reasons ;-)
Thank you

Marigold123 wrote:I doubt very much whether they will EVER reply to your message. I have sent five in the last couple of weeks, and have had no response whatsoever. This is typical of Onetel. I am in the process of moving my broadband after 2 and a half years and their CS has always been appalling.
Let us know if they do ever reply to you - and I will probably need a stiff drink to cope with the shock!
This is a very helpful post for those of us who haven't had any trouble with onetel SO FAR.
My only gripe is their CS in India.

I had told them I would see them in court - hope that this helped to change their mind as they were so obviously in the wrong. All I need to do now is get my £3.99 refunded !To infinity and beyond!0

Spoke to soon !
Although the web page clearly states :
Please note: Offer ends 31/03/05, available to all customers signing up for a new landline plan.
What they really mean is :
Please note: Offer ends 31/03/05, available to all customers signing up a new landline for a new landline plan.
They will not allow existing customers to have this.
I have told them that I will cancel if they do not meet their commitment and have agreed to send them a copy of the printout I did which clearly shows that the monthly cost will be £0.00.To infinity and beyond!0 -
Mike's right. I read previous posts and thought offer was available to existing customers, as per their promo page. I phoned them up ,complained and got put through to a supervisor, who agreed to me getting £20 plus £3.99 credit for a year. I said that if I were a new customer I could also get £12 from Greasy Palm. All he could offer was £20 and free calls for a year. I told him that I did not want my number to be registered with them and he is arranging to cancel it. With any luck this will be done before 31.03.05, so I can sign up as a new customer, via Greasy palm.I'm not sure I want to sign up with them anyway, if they put such misleading info on their website.0
