Just tried to sign up to be told the registered telephone line may have already been signed up with onetel and to telephone their customer services. I did this and spoke to an asian lady, and no disrespect to her but i could not understand hardly anything see said, I did eventually pick up that I will have to contact a certain department and send them a phone bill statement from NTL to prove that I own the line.
I have been with NTL for around 3 years but do know this line has been used before myself as the first half dozen calls i received was regarding a lady selling puppies :O.
Anyway all this seems far too much hassle so will stick with my original decision to attempt to sign up with 1899. Good luck to all who apply!

You have come this far escapee, so why not try a different approach and go to NTL and tell them you want to change to Onetel and see if they come up with an offer?0 -

As an existing customer I was on StandardUKTalk having downgraded to this last month to make use of the 3p connection/0p per minute offers with 18866/1899 etc as this would work out cheaper than LeisureUKTalk. Then I saw the information on Onetel's latest offer and thought this would be easier to save having to remember to pre-dial. I tried signing up online but it came up with an error (discussed right at the top of this thread!). As I have 2 numbers registered with them in the same account (one at my address, one at my parents to keep things simple for them), I then called them up and cancelled the service on my main line. As a result, on this line, I was no longer a customer. Minutes later, I "recommended" myself and signed up for the LeisureUKTalk package through their promotion (back into the same account as it would not allow setting up a new one).
With me so far? To cut a long story short, the bills for this month are now online. I have been credited with £40 (£20 as referer, £20 as referee) but the £3.99 free UK calls for a year credit is not showing. As the promotion ends tomorrow, does anyone know whether I should push the issue as I have £40 credit or would that be pushing it too much? I could of course downgrade back to StandardUKTalk (free weekend calls) but as they are promoting LeisureUKTalk heavily for free calls for a year plus credits, then is it worth a phone call or would that ring alarms on the £40 credit?
Any advice greatfully received.

Now that this month's bills are out, does anyone have any experience of Onetel into letting them have this offer as an existing customer (on NTL)?
Many thanks

Bit strange - I've had a look at the bill and I've been credited with the full £3.99 for the part month of Feb but only charged a fraction back.
Is that a bonus?0 -

I would say that is will probably balance out at the end of the year? When I shifted from Onetel to TalkTalk mid bill period I ended up with a credit on my Onetel bill as they had charged me for a full month. (I used it during the manic Argos ring and reserve)

However, I spent hours on the phone to NTL a couple of weeks back arguing a special discount or I walk and they honoured it (at least I hope they did, wont know exactly till i get my first monthly bill!!) so i think this would be taking the michael if i were to press this issue also, besides what NTL promise over the phone is not necessarily what they do in actuality (a case of the left arm doesnt know what the right arm is doing!!) I only accrue around £2 a month in call charges anyway on top of my standing charge so will try call1899 and see if i can save a few pence. Up until a couple of weeks back I never knew these telephony 'offers' existed so once again thanks MSE, we learn something new every day.

You may find you can't join 1899 at the moment. I tried a couple of days ago and got a 'failed subscription' email, as they were not taking any more registrations. (You can still join up to call18866, though.)
If you succeed with 1899, do let us know!A penny saved is a penny gained0
