  • I think Martin's advise is to use the £20 credit for any mobile calls until it runs out :)

But as I understand it I be paying £3.99 per month irrespective of whether I use that allowance or not, I suppose it depends on how much you use the phone. Until recently I paid between £10-£15 a month in calls but now I use 18866 this will decrease a lot.

I rarely ring mobiles the occasion one perhaps. I have phone at present programmed to ring prefix + STD + friends/acquaintance etc so cost will be minimum, 1p connection unless I use other numbers, I never ring abroad either.

shrek101 - You will not be paying £3.99 - you will be charged £3.99 but then credited £3.99 (ie one cancels out the other) - this happens before you get your bill - therefore unlimited evening and weekend calls completely free for a year. It is not, as seems to be understood by some on here, an allowance that you have to spend each month as the (normal) £3.99 charge is not related to how much you use the phone.

Use 18866 or whoever for your daytime calls and check who is the cheapest for 0845 etc. As you also get £20 credit then you also have that to spend too. And I suggest that anyone considerinf this doesn't waste much more time thinking about it, if you decide to proceed, as the offer is due to end tomorrow (28/2)!

  • You can always use the £20 for any 0845 or 0870 calls you have to make. If you can't find a geographical number here of course ;)
  • Hi
As usual i leave things to the last minute...

Was wondering what the difference was between the talktalk 1+ offer abd this one tel offer?

Currently have a BT line, but have OneTel dial up - tried signing up over the net for the OneTel offer, but was asked to ring the 0800 number - probably because i am an existing customer, though i am considering getting a decent deal on broadband (thats for another thread!).

Should i sign up for the talktalk offe or ing the 0800 OneTel number and see what they say?

    Thanks

When Martin wrote the article I don't think anyone was aware that they would be debiting then crediting the £3.99 :(

The difference between the TalkTalk and Ontel offer basically is £10! You can get £10 credit if you are referred to TalkTalk and £20 credit with Onetel if you sign up online. As you are being asked to phone them you may have to fight for the £20 credit but it certainly is worth trying :)
  • Thanks edinburghlass will ring em and see what they do
