My husband was a Onetel customer. So I applied for the UKLeisureTalk plan online for my business line at home and our private home line.

Waited until the letter from Onetel arrived confirming that both will be enabled but only the new phone line was free.

So we called their Customer Service and threatened to close the whole account down. Surprise, surprise ..we've got the LeisureTalk plan on both lines free of charge now :j

Now I need to figure out how to programme the Orchid V4 Dialler to use 18866 and 1899!

does this mean no ideas for unregistering?

surely it is my right to demand my details aren't held by them, including my home phone number??

I (think) they are obliged to hold your details under the Data Protection Act (or prob something similiar) for a certain amount of time.

Personally, I don't think you have much of a chance to "unregister" with them.

It mentions nowhere on their website or in their t&c (that I could see anyhow) that the offer is only applicable to new customers*. Therefore, you could try and write a letter to the them (address is in London and not India!)and state that you wish to sign-up to their current offer but was told you weren't allowed to because it's only available to new customers. Then go on to say it mentions nowhere on their website or their t&c that the offer is available to NEW customers only and therefore you plan on taking advice from Trading standards, etc. You would be pushing it asking for the £20 credit as well!?!

If you decide on the above route, I'd say write the letter today and post it first thing Mon and by recorded delivery (they may think you mean business with it being recorded delivery).

Alternatively, when your current free evening/weekend ends on TalkTalk and providing OneTel are still doing the offer, you could threaten to leave TalkTalk and transfer to OneTel because of the evening/weekend offer. TalkTalk may agree to waive the monthly cost for 12months. Obviously this is dependant on OneTel still doing this offer.

    * MSE Martin has had confirmation from them that the offer is only available to new customers but they don't know that you know that!

Oh Clair I'll need to remember that one if I go back to Onetel when my TalkTalk free 12 months runs out as I was with Onetel before that.

Well done, glad you got the £20 icon14.gif

Just signed up with Onetel for their free package etc and £20 call credit, this was over the phone on the freephone number. I registered my credit card rather than DD. The woman I spoke with wanted me to sign up for their line rental too at £9.99 a month, what is the benefit to this, should I sign or would it cause problems later on? Is this what everyone is going on about when they want to unregister their line etc etc. Hadn't the time to go through the whole thread. Any info appreciated, TIA.

SmileyMum, don't sign up for their line rental as the saving is minimal and you won't be able to take up 18866/1899 or will have problems with shifting internet suppliers.

    Edinburghlass,

Thanks for the tip. I didn't sign, I thought I'm only saving 51p a month but at what cost later on with hassle etc. Haven't signed, just taken the evening calls option etc. Runs from Midnight Friday to Midnight Sunday, I think it has been mentioned. So, got 18866 and One tel, saving me the princely sum of £54 a year on line rental from BT. Was on an obsolete F&F package from BT been dithering about whether to pull the plug, I don't make that many calls anyway so what the heck.... I'm taking the plunge.

Evening and Weekend calls package, could someone clarify, as their times for calls are different to BTs. I did ask but she BMWB and was pressed for time to ask again. TIA.

I have just checked Onetel website and Peak runs from 8 am - 6 pm (I think BT runs from 6 am - 6 pm) and obviously Off Peak is 6 pm - 8 am.

Weekend runs from midnight Friday - midnight Sunday so your free calls are basically Saturday and Sunday. After 60 minutes the charge is 0.90p so best to hang up and dial again and weekday evening calls are 5p for 60 minutes.
