If you've been at the 2% tier since, say, August, you'll earn the 2% on spend in August and September but that will drop on spend post October 1st.0

Hello, first time poster here.
Anyways I'm going on holiday in a few weeks time and have heard about the American express holiday credit card. Has one used this before? if so it is good or bad?0 -
If you're referring to the card I think you are,

then it's NOT a credit card. It's marketed as a Travellers Cheque Card. Obviously the card just replaces the paper cheques. You have to load it with cash first.0 -

Don't know if this known around here but AmEx have a Travel service available (on their UK site, click on the Travel link at the top of the page).
I received what looked like a genuine e-mail from them this week saying that the service was closing from 22/09/2006 until some time in February so they could perform some maintenance or upgrades. Now, I'm always cautious of e-mails from any card or bank company. I checked their site and there is nothing on it suggesting this.
Has anyone also received this e-mail or better still does anyone who works for AmEx know anything further?0 -
Have previously used my Amex in Debenhams no problems. Recently their Chip & Pin machine comes up with Error C064. Thought it was my card, but my wife's brand new one has exactly the same problem. Convincing the cashier to swipe the card is sometimes a problem, but when they do it goes through fine. Anyone else had the same issues?0

Well, replying to myself here, but it looks like the e-mail was not a hoax. AmEx travel service has now closed until "sometime" in 2007.
That's one less reason to like AmEx now. The Travel service searched all airlines and booked fares at excellent prices. It was almost always cheaper than Expedia.co.uk0 -
I'm very confused with regards to the Blue card situation. The Blue card that I openned earlier this month came with the 'old style' T&Cs, i.e. the lower band of cashback was 0.5% for the first £2.5k annual spend. This is weird.0
