Just received lastest T & C for blue card today
Amex would be making some changes wef 01 Oct 2006.
Money back tiers have been revised.
0.5% for aggregate amounts up to £3500
1.0% for aggregate amounts in access of £3501.
They have mentioned that moneyback earned till Oct 1,2006 would be paid at the current moneyback rates.
and also they are also removing the Account Servicing charge which previosly was £15 in case your annual spend was less then £500...0 -
Let's hope it's similar for platinum too then. Did the T&C's come with a statement?0

I got that letter too. Its good that they have ditched the £15. But moving the 1% cashback from £2001 to £3501 makes the Blue a pretty poor cashback card.
Will stick with my Egg Money and keep the Amex Blue in reserve.0 -

Received my letter this morning.
From Amex Platinum new T&C's :- All moneyback earned up until 1st Oct 2006will be payable at your current moneyback rates. The October statement will contain two eligible spend columns, one at the old rate, one at the new to show the difference on moneyback earnt from the 1st Oct.
It also states that the annual fee of £15pa if you haven't spent £500 in the preceeding 12 months has been dropped.0 -
Got mine today as well. Now applying for new card....0

As this whole brief fling (about 7 months) with Amex will now have cost me 0.5% cashback on that first £3K as I was using a 1% card before I switched. Happy to initially forgo that for the promise of 2%. I'm never going to reach the £7K target by October, so I ain't gonna see any 2% cashback at all. Feel thoroughly dumped on. To add insult to injury, they didn't even try to retain my custom (not that I would have stayed anyway). They didn't put up a fight at all. Never been able to so easily cancel anything before. Bar humbug.0

Just received my letter with cashback revisions outlined and feel like dumping it. I only got it for the promise of 3% cashback but like others I've had difficulty reaching the target because it's not accepted everywhere (why can I use it in Asda to pay for the shopping but can't use it to pay for petrol at Asda?). Sorry to waffle but if I dump the card now though will I lose the cashback I have already accumulated or do I have to wait for my anniversary to be paid the cashback and then I dump them?Books - the original virtual reality.

Well I'm keeping mine open until the anniversary in Jan otherwise if its shut they won't pay cashback - just going to stop spending. I've probably broken even as we have done around an 11.5k spend. Won't be touching them again with a bargepole though. I think its unrealistic to continue to name them as top cashback as the majority of people can't capitalise on the higher rates of interest due to the low (and rapidly declining) rates of acceptance in shops.0
