So do we trust Amex again. When I cancelled recently I was told they were put under pressure from the government to come into line with other companies and that's why the recent tierings were changed. I've no idea what that was about? Big question is, are they likely to do it again mid year? Anyone know their track record pls, as yet again the combination of Amex and then Egg as a fallback looks best for me. Just has a touch of the once bitten about it though.......0

if you are concerned and want a amex card why not get one from MBNA? Since I got mine I've had my limit gradually increased every couple of months.
The have a few good cards to choose from as well

Apologies if this has been brought up before, but I can't plough through >500 messages right now.
Had MoneyBack Credit from American Express Blue Card which I took out just over a year ago.
Very disappointing, half of what I expected, so I complained. Customer Support was no help, they simply denied the number of points on my statement. Refused to let me speak to a supervisor, no-one phoned back as promised either.
So I wrote a letter to complaints department. Got a reply where they admit that MoneyBack "seems" to have been calculated incorrectly. Still don't reach the figure I expected, but it's a start (and I'm not 100% confident in my calculation with their change in conditions last October, basically they took the threshold for 1% moneyback up from £2000 to £3500.
Oh, and they have credited £10 to my account.
So I have wirtten back again, stating that I still don't agree with their calculation and that £10 does not pay for my time and effort spent on following up their mistakes.
Sorry I am ranting on
I really just wanted to remind everyone to check their MoneyBack Credit, if it's not what you expected they may well be cheating you!!0 -
Hi
I feel a bit silly asking this but I haven't used ny nectar amex card for quite a while and need help using it online.
I realise the card number is the one across the front of the card but is the 4 digit security number the one you enter in place the normal 3 digit security
number?
Thanks in advance

Yes that's the one. If you are talking about the 4 digit number on the front of the card. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
I take it you only put the 15 digit card number and then the 4 digit one from the front separate as the security number- whoops I think I did it wrong!0

Saucepot wrote:If you can an amex card before the loyality bonus month, do they pay up early?
Or are you best waiting till the credit appears and then sacking it?
Are you talking about cashback or some sort of loyality scheme? I know that with cashback, it's paid on the anniversary of opening the card. If the card is cancelled the cashback is lost so it's probably the same for the loyality schemes in anycase.
For this reason, I kept my Amex Blue even though I did not use it for 9 months until I got my cashback a few weeks ago. I then called up and had it credited to my back account and cancelled the Blue card. I used the blue card becuase it paid double cashback for the first three months, then I applied for and used the Platinum one because it gives better rates.0 -
