Anyone heard of about comms? should I take the deal??

My opinion is to stay away from About Comms at ALL costs. They are complete liars in my opinion.
They contacted me about 16 months ago. They offered to buy me out of my Orange contract of 2 phones, which was costing me about £80 pm. They did and they gave me 2 freehandsets including an Iphone 4. They paid the exit charges and paid me £360 cashback as promised. All was fine until I tried to get my cashback for year 2.
Im know told i have to get this every 3 months instead of annually. Ive been ringing them for 2 months now and they promise me that it is with finance dept but then they dont return my calls and wont make the payment. Looks like im going to the small claims court to get my money every 3 months. But im going to and ive reported them to 02 and to the regulator and to citizens advice.
STAY CLEAR OF ABOUTCOMMS THEY ARE SIMPLY TERRIBLE IN MY OPINION.0 -
I too have problems with about comms. Same old, same old really. They have been promising payment for the past 3 months, im now into another quarter so im owed 2 quarters = £450.
I have tried being civil but now I am compltely loosing my patience with them. Same excuses 'with financial director' 'being escalated' 'you will get a call back'
No one in authority ever seems to be there to take a complaint call. O2 barred my calls as I couldnt afford to pay the bill, I explained I was owed £450 from about comms but they advised there was nothing they could do. Its absolutely disgusting, we have 3 phones on abusiness tarrif costing £245 a month. No way can we afford that without the £225 quarterly payments.
The most annoying thing is that when we originally started pur business we were with another telecoms agent, who never paid our contract off, never correctly ported the numbers over. I had months of calls and letters to them. Eventually I knew I was getting no where and o2 were threatening legal action so had no alternative but to cut our losses and start again.
Stupidly my hubby fell for it again with another cold call.
Another good deal.... seeming to be to good to be true.
Its a shame these companies get away with it, since setting up our business in plumbing and heating we have paid thousands for advertising that never came off, work that never existed and now these phone contracts.
I keep telling my other half not to accept all these 'great deals' but foolishly he does andwe get in a right pickle.0 -
Surely there is someone we can report this company to. We should be able to cancel our contracts as About Comms are in breach.
Would it be worth contacting BBC WatchDog and get them to investigate Mr David wats his name.. or even Rogue traders.
The more people know about this company the better.
Ive contacted 02 but they dont seem worried....
Im not going to let this lie......... Im going to insist that 02 make a full investigation into this company and stop using them to sell their network. If they dont im going to report 02 to the regulator..
Im getting on to my solicitor and going to the small claims court. pity im going to have to do this every 4 months. cant wait for my contract finish. avoid this company like the plague.0 -
Update - I have sent them a message using their own 'contact form' and emailed them threatening proceedings. I have also emailed a copy of the county court claim form I am now going to take to the county court to issue on them.
will keep you informed!0 -
Is it not simpler to use Money Claim Online court?0

We were mis-sold a business contract by About Comms in January 2011 and 15 months later I am still trying to sort it out! They promised to upgrade our existing Orange contract but actually put us on a different contract number and they never fulfilled on any of their promises regarding timelines, accessories, insurance etc etc. Orange said they would investigate this company but never did and they are just not interested. I agree with fellow complainers that this Company should be reported and not be allowed to continue being licensed to sell air time contracts for the likes of O2, Orange, 3 etc. I have today written to Watchdog at the BBC in the hope they "out" this company as a rogue trader and I hope the outcome is that they lose their license with the big telecommunication providers.
I am also in talks now with a solicitor to try and resolve the situation with both Orange and About Comms.0 -
To the last post.
Exactly the same here promised i could keep my own number. Untill Orange took money by an illegal Direct Debit for a contract and number i never even activated a sim card for despite being an existing customer. My line to them is why would i need two phones?
No one cares at About Comms or Orange. OFCOM and the Ombudsman have also fobbed me off despite the fact a crime has occurred here. Orange are still pursuing me for a debt of nearly £1000. Feel like a total victim.
Am i correct in thinking that About Comms contact number costs £0.35 per minute to call? Everyones advice is contact About Comms, no one understands they will not reply!
I have wasted days over this, my money has been stolen! and i may have to instruct a Solicitor to sort this out costing me more money again. Wish i could find out who sold About Comms my details to cold call me in the first place.

SarahLouise wrote: »Hi guys
I was contacted by this company a while back but apparently 3 business wanted a downpayment of £160! even though I have been a 3 customer for years & the phone I was offered was only the c905 so decided against it.
They called me again & have now offered me the x10 mini on 02 business unlimited everything for £30 pm (probably has fair useage policy) 36 month but upgrade to any phone I wasnt after 18 months.
So I was thinking what a great deal! then I tried to find the website seems to be under construction (could be genuine!) but have spoken to o2 they have never heard of them & decided to ask all other major phone providers they had'nt either & have all advised me not to do it!
Calling 3 2mrw to see how much it will cost to upgrade a month early (will try & get out of paying anything as I have have been a good customer for years
)
Anyway just thought I'd see if anyone had ever heard about about comms or what they think of this deal?
Thanks Sarah xx
Hi Sarah,
My advice is stay away from them i have had a terrible time with them, i signed up on 3 year deal it was one of the worst mistakes I have made..there C/S dept is really bad they just ignore most of my calls now i have to with hold my number when i call, i am signed to O2 which has been great sometimes, but when i have a problem they will not deal with me direct i have to go through about comms..and you guessed it i get NO where!!! so i am riding out my contract with a hope that some one will re-sign me in the new year and i can move away from them (about comms) DONT sign with them you will regret it!!
I signed up to this forum just to tell you thats how strongly i feel about it, I may be to late but its good to get the word out there, i feel powerless to do anything, my biggest worry is they may not be that helpful when i request the codes i will need to move my number away to another provider.
Good luck there is plenty of better companies to deal with my advice would to approach the providers directly..0 -
Further Update....
Well I emailed a copy of the unsealed (not served) county claim form to them. I had a call within 3 days from Gary Mann apologising for the service and delay in responding. I got my £450 within 3 days (although he did say 24 hours!)
I recommend to all of you that are owed money to go on the .gov website and fill out the county court claim form. It would seem that a threat of litigation seemed to get their @rse into gear and coughed up the money. Alternatively you can do it online but you are actually serving proceedings then rather than just a threat.
Hope this helps!0 -
