Glad I found this thread, anyone wanting to get even more vocal about this bunch of cowboys, here's a Facebook page with a few aggrieved customers

    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Avoid-Advanced-Data-Networks-About-Comms/245905468847177

I accepted a contract with Three in February this year and it's been nothing but a nightmare. I was sold a dual phone contract where I was essentially getting a second phone for free (as I would be receiving cashback each month), but to date I'm now owed over £300 from the company.

They are the worst company I have had the pleasure of dealing with, and they constantly give false promises.

Three customer services to their benefit have been wonderful so far, and have acknowledged my mis-selling of a contract and are attempting to get the money back for me.

    We'll see eh.

    Bunch of crooks.
  • We finally received our cashback 2 months late and have finally managed to get it back on time, the next major issue we have come across is that they are now stating we have a 36 month contract dispite having an email from a Gary Mann confirming we could change handsets after 18 months or contracts after 24 months. The mis-selling of this contract has been shocking and gives 02 an awful name as they are the service providers and who send our bills. Trying to get through to them is so frustrating, hours upon hours of waiting only to be told that someone will call back.......you guessed it, no-one calls back! This sort of out-fit needs to be sorted out immediately, there's TV shows of rogue traders and cowboy builders so how about having one to show how awfully customers are treated with a company such as this. I own a business along with my wife's' business that has 12 employees and had it been a great service they would have had some great referrals. Will
keep you all updated to the outcome and IF the matter gets taken to the next level of Trading Standards.

Shocking Service, Shocking Standards and Watch out for Mis-Selling of these contracts. Also noticed they are trying to change the business name to start again under different business!!
  • I contacted Aboutcomms today, regarding further cashback that was due and have been told by them that they no longer look after or sell O2 contracts. They have referred me to their distributor called Avenir Telecoms. I am at the mid point in my contract and was promised a free upgrade by about comms. When i approached Avenir I was told that they could give me a free upgrade but the cost would be an extra £70 per month at £151pm Ridiculous. If was an 02 customer directly they could do both phones for £45 pm, but because i am now being looked after by Avenir (thruno choice of my own) i cannot take advantage of this lower tarriff.

02 do not seem to care that i have been ripped off by Aboutcomms, aslong as they get my money each month. I am going to small claims court to get my money back from Aboutcomms, but by the sounds of things they wont be trading for much longer and i will just become one of the many people who will never get money from them.

O2 need to stand up and look after their customers.

You may find that a clear and proper LBA sees them pay up without pulling the trigger.

Don't know how you can sue them for not providing you with a free upgrade though. IMO it's far too ambiguous obligation unless it was made more clear in the contact.
  • No the heading is not misspelt, having with with Aboutcomm, event their salesmen don't know what they are talking about promise things that do not happen, like money refunds that do not materilize, I am now stuck in a contract that they say I can not cancel.
My advice to anyone thinking about taking out a contractwith them DO NOT TOUCH WITH BARGEPOLE.
  • Well, we seem to be a similar victim to all those outline before. We took out a business contract with About Comms last July. They still owe us over £360 cashback. Have complained to O2, but they have explained we are now with the retensions team in Avenir Ltd. Have made several attempts to contact them, but getting the same old fob off that someone will call me. No response! Have threatened legal action via letter to About Comms, no response this time, so looks like a claim in the court. However, I feel they MUST be in breach of contact, and would certainly be interested in highlighting both About Comms and Avenir Ltd via Rougue Traders. Any idea how this can be done?
  • Please read my post before entering into a contract with this company.......

A woman contacted me by telephone 12 months ago from Advanced Data Networks (About Comms) and said she could get me a cheaper deal on my mobile. At that time, my husband had a very basic 'pay as you go' which cost him approx £5 a month and I had an 'Orange' contract Smartphone which worked out at £15 a month. I didn't think it was possible but for £20.00 per month I was told I could have four contract mobiles with the Three network - each one having 1125 any network minutes, 2000 same network minutes and 150 texts per month.

The package consisted of one Samsung Galaxy Ace with 2GB internet and three basic Nokia handsets (internet not included in package on these but available if required at extra cost).

Before making a decision, I Googled Advanced Data Network but found nothing. I also rang the Three Network who confirmed that they did receive customers from ADN but couldn’t discredit them.

Having looked at the paperwork that came with the phones, it did indeed work out at £20 a month after receiving four cashback payments from About Comms. They paid off my Orange contract which was around £300 and I commenced with this new Three package. After a few weeks, I was concerned when I realised that the cashback only referred to a period of 12 months and the contract was for 24 months. When I telephoned ADN stating that I didn't want to pay any more than the £20 a month, I was assured that after 12 months the contract would be looked at again and they would assess the current market and get us a deal more suitable to our needs.

During the past year, every time I rang ADN to request a cashback due, I met with an answering machine saying that they were very busy and it could take up to 5 minutes to be answered. On most occasions it was nearer 10 mins. Payment was always promised in the next few days but normally took several more calls and at least a couple of weeks before it reached my account. In addition to this, emails should be responded to within 24 working hours, however, when I emailed they did not even give me the courtesy of a reply.

Then, on the 16th Feb I phoned them to request cashback, but when I received the payment in my bank account on the 29th Feb, it was only half of what was expected. When I phoned to ask why, I was informed that it was because only two phones were being used. No one had told me that I must use all handsets to ensure payment for them. I consequently was then asked to make calls from the two other mobiles and they would then instigate cashback payments for them. The second part of the payment due on the 16th May finally arrived on the 2nd July.

I am now half way through my contract with ADN (12 months) and having heard nothing from them, I telephoned to see what could be done. I have been informed that there is not much chance of reducing the full £127.00 per month I am currently paying because it would not be to ADN’s benefit to pay off these mobiles which still have 12 months on them. They say they will look into it by listening to the sales recording where I definitely stated that I was quite happy with my current set up and did not want to spend any more than £20 per month.

I chased them up again, four days after they said they would ring me to be told that they are still awaiting the recording and will contact me tomorrow. They did not contact me. I rang again a week later to be told that the recordings had been received but not listened to as yet. They say they will ring me but I very much doubt that anything will be done and consequently will have no option but to pay approx £123 for the next 12 months. I’ve been left feeling very embarrassed that I was talked into such a deal and want to let others know of my situation. I wish this forum was available to me twelve months ago.

Three network have ceased trading with Advanced Data Networks and from my experience I can see why.

If you are considering entering into a contract with these people, think again, you may end up very much out of pocket and stuck in a contract that you can’t get out of unless you pay the remaining months outstanding.
