Avoid about comms at all costs!! First year i had a phone from them was no probs ( other than the stupid insurance that they put on the phone) but the second year which im in at the mo has turned out to be a right PAIN in the backside. I agreed to 18 month contract but about comms put me on a 26 month contract without my permission and promised me £10 off my bill each month which they say should be in my account, will check today should have gone in 3 weeks ago. they owe my £120 for the last year on discounts which they haven't payed yet. Hopefully all sorted but its taken over a month to sort out and the customer services is disgusting. I was always told i would be called back and never was, the amount of bulls#*t they spat out just made me laugh and, some times cry. The insurance that about comms have when they sent the phones is another complete joke trying to stop it was a right nightmare and im not sure if it has stop i have to keep checking my bank statements.0

Whoever and whatever anyone purports to be NEVER agree to any contract OR upgrade over the phone (even from the network itself) unless you have it clearly in writing first. This is not the only very shady outfit which has tripped people up.0

Just checked my bank account and about comms hasn't put any money in as they promised. This is the second time they have lied to me. They owe me £120, well another day on the phone to them tomorrow. I feel like going down to there office its not far from where i live. Who want to join me?
UPDATE
About comms has payed at last, its taken over two weeks to get the money they owed me.
I found if you keep ringing them they seem to do something. Two weeks is a joke and ive still got to see if they will sort my contract out in july another load of phone call.0 -
Don't even bother ringing these guys, they give you the same !!!!!!!! time and time again. I have managed to get my money by sending notice of legal action.. Basically, send them an email (or a letter by recorded delivery would be better) saying they have X days to pay the outstanding amount or you will be taking legal action against them. The amount of days isn't really important, I think I said 14, which is plenty of time for them to be able to pay the money.
If you don't pay you then (they will.. I think they have been instructed specifically not to pay any money unless legal action is threatened) then take the !!!!!!!s to small claims court, where they will not only have to pay you what they owe but reimburse you your £50 and any additional costs!
Good luck! Bloody cowboys!0 -
Have to say that I took up the Aboutcomms deal that was offered to me and it has been a great deal and has delivered everything it promised....eventually.
Do not be mistaken that this is a post supporting Aboutcomms as I had many problems along the way.
1. I was sold an insurance product along with my phone that was never mentioned in any conversation. When I complained about this I was assured that it was mentioned as it was company policy to discuss the extra products sold with the phones but when I threatened the company with a Subject Access request they promised to review the phonecalls.
After several weeks without hearing anything about the phonecall review and after many emails and an official complaint that was ignored by one of their managers I eventually placed the complaint with the Information Commissioners Office (Data Protection) under a complaint for passing my personal data to 3rd parties without consent and setting up a financial contract in my name without my knowledge or consent. The ICO assured me on the evidence that was supplied that Aboutcomms were in breach of Data Protection Act 1998. I was shortly afterwards contacted by Aboutcomms where they admitted fault and offered compensation for their errors.
2. During all of this the contract that I took out with them (yes I kept it going) was supposed to pay off my old 3 contract and start another contract again with 3. I had a value of around £270 left on my existing contract and Aboutcomms assured me thias was fine and that they would pay this sum. I waited 6 months and several phone calls and letters and yet another official complaint (which was again ignored) before I was finally able to get them to pay the bill. During this time my new contract was set up but because of some technical complication 3 could not switch me because of the outstanding value that was to be paid to them and because of this my number could not be ported to the new contract which had already started so I went 3 months on a new £35 per month contract without having a being able to use my own number. Aboutcomms did eventually refund this money too but it took a while.
Have to say that while I have had the phone, the service it has been brilliant, I didn't originally recive my full internet package but this was a slight glitch with 3 and not Aboutcomms. The extras and the price offered has been everything that was promised and I will not fault Aboutcomms with that.
However......
I have just recently received another phonecall fromn them offering me the same old speil. I told them that I was in contract with them already but my 12 month contract was most likely up and I would be happy to look at a new deal. the chappy on the phone then informed me that I was not on a 1 year contract but a 2 year contract - This was definately never mentioned in the original phonecall and so the roundabout starts again. They are again searching through the phone calls originally made to me and I already know the outcome because I would NEVER have signed into a 2 year deal with anyone no matter how good the price. I feel more compensation coming on........I am due to recive a phonecall in the next 3 hours to tell me I am correct and that I was not informed of the 2 year contract but lets just say I am not holding my breath.
So in short.
Damn, they are hard work and rarely deliver what they promise and even more rarely do they do it on time or without major problems, they lie and ignore complaints, sell you products that they don't tell you about. Give your personal details to 3rd parties without your permission and set up financial contracts in your name without informing you.
But they do have very good price plans.
Probably best to just ignore them and hope they go away0 -
i have had really good experience with them. i know people that work there and have not had any bad feedback0

One of your relatives, perhaps?
Forgive me for being cynical but when a first time poster decides to make a post that is diagonally opposed to existing member posts and is in support of a company, then this does raise eyebrows.0 -
Especially when it contains absolutely no substance!0

Is this the 'about comms' in Gosport? I have a job interview there but do not want to work for a dodgy company.0
