    memory ~
    Goto crucial
    http://www.crucial.com/uk/?click=true
Scan your computer and post all information it gives here
Then we'd need to find the correct memory for you to buy, and you fit it (very simple as it only fits one way round)

I tried this, downloaded to desktop and run, but then it asked me to input info about my PC system that I did'nt know. So unable to continue, Sorry.

    messenger ~
Goto START (Bottom left) and ALL PROGRAMS
    Find messenger and open it
Now it depends what version you have.
With mine I need to goto SHOW MENU (near the top on the right)
    Then TOOLS and OPTIONS
SIGN IN and UNTICK to auto start with windows. Click APPLY and SAVE

    I've searched everywhere, without success.
I don't think there's anything called messenger here. Is it possible that I've deleted it at sometime?.
I do tend to fish around the system accasionally, trying to learn how it all works. (which is probably why I'm having problems now)
Although since you told me to delete those 7 items (what were they by the way?) this thing seems to be operating reasonably well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
I've also had a message from MSE Ian, so I hope he will investigate the problem of overlapping text. You have probably noticed posts from others experiencing the same problem but it only affects me on this site and nowhere else.

I’ve looked everywhere but I can’t find messenger. Is it possible I’ve deleted it at some time? I do tend to fish around the system occasionally trying to learn how it all works.
Since you told me to delete those 7 items this thing seems to be running quite well, I’m keeping my fingers crossed. (What were they by the way, and why were they unnecessary?)
The reason I couldn’t continue with ‘crucial’ is because a pop up box appeared asking me to supply technical info about my PC system that I had no knowledge of or how to find it. If it wasn’t for people like you who are willing to give detailed guidance on which keys to press to dig out this stuff, many like me would be lost as we constantly see on these pages, so keep up the good work.
I did try Googling for the info you wanted and found another site that runs a scan called ‘aememory’. The scan completed and they sent a page of info which was incomplete and once again invited me to go online for a live chat to supply further info which I declined for the reasons stated above. Incidentally, I tried to send you what info they provided but ‘copy and paste’ doesn’t seem to work on these posts, the picture wouldn’t print onto this message.

  • Just received a message from ‘MSE Ian’ asking about this overlap problem on some screens.
I’ve sent a reply and explained that it is only happening when visiting Moneysavingexpert forum. It doesn’t happen whilst browsing other sites on the internet.
    Hopefully it can be resolved.

It's web developers continually coding around the failings of Internet Explorer that allows Microsoft to get away with producing garbage.

Most of those files were dead files
The rest were files that are running that dont need to be

TICK and FIX these too ~
    O9 - Extra button: Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe
    O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: Windows Messenger - {FB5F1910-F110-11d2-BB9E-00C04F795683} - C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe

I believe IE8 will sort out your main problem. So id suggest reinstalling it.
But youll need to reset it too ~
    1. Open Internet Explorer 8
    2. Click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
    3. Click the Advanced tab.
    4. Under Reset Internet Explorer Settings, click Reset.

    Memory ~

    Install CPU-Z

    http://www.filehippo.com/download_cpuz/download/b783a72da95bc3686edae734c45261ac/

Run it and goto SPD. Give the information in 'MAX BANDWIDTH' for all slots
Mine for example is 'PC2-6400 (400Mhz)' for all 4 slots

I've clicked and fixed these additional 2 items. Thanks, lets hope it improves things.

I have also tried to send you copies of error messages that occured every time I tried to log on with IE8, I saved them in 'Documents' but the pages won't print here. I can't understand why this is because I'm sure I've seen other pages printed here with pictures on them!

What happens is: a 'Search Provider Default' message pops up every time I logged onto the internet using Internet Explorer 8, when I click OK (or the red cross box) the 'Manage Add On' message appears which I also have to delete.
Google is my Default Search Provider, but 'Manage Add ons' will not allow any changes to be made and shows 'Bing' as the Default.
Its a nuisance having to go through the routine of deleting the messages every time I logged on to the internet so I deleted IE8 completely and reinstalled IE7.
IE8 also had the same problem of freezing at certain times of the day and IE7 is no worse.
