I know its wrong but dark ladys post above has got me laughing....0

I had a (ahem) "gentleman caller" after my divorce and he turned out to be a tight wad. He would occasionally bring an opened bottle of wine when he visited, never bought a meal out, expected me to cook for him instead. Like a fool I did, for a while. He had an extemely well paid job so wasn't short of money. His highlight of the week was finding reduced food in his local Asda..
Meaness is a bad trait, usually accompanied by some form of control. I think the OP has to stand up for her "rights"now or she will regret staying with him when she gets older.
dark lady, your story would be funny if it wasn't true. I believe every word." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Is he not ashamed that his wife has holes in her shoes and no proper underwear?0

Jess 1974 and lilac lady I know what you mean.Reading it back it does sound funny and i can laugh at bits of it now cos it was a long time ago but i was burning with fury at the time.
On a more serious note no way should the OP be walking around in old bras and holey shoes.Womens Aid actually called what i went through financial abuse so im sure they would say the same about what the OP is going through. Its about more than the money. He is being controlling and not respecting her.Lalalady i implore you to sit your husband down and have a serious talk with him otherwise you will start to resent him and could end up hating him.
If he believes he is in the right then he wont mind you paying a visit to his workplace wearing those holey shoes will he!
I seem to remember one poster telling Lalalady that she was lucky to have a man like him.!!!!!!. But i am willing to bet that if someone turned up to that posters special occasion like a wedding for instance in holey shoes said poster would be humming a different tune!0 -
Totally agree - how in the name of goodness can he begrudge you decent underwear? And holey shoes? I'm sorry but the OP needs to give him what for. Moneysaving is one thing being downright mean is another thing totally.0

The OP has never came back? I'd like to know if she is getting some shoes at least?0

I would like to know how the OP is getting on too and i really hope she has got the shoes and bra at the very least.
Mind you from what the OP was saying about her husband i wouldnt be surprised if he has cancelled the internet connection just to save money!0
