I think the husband got the child benefits?
Ah right maybe I missed that post, well if the husband gets the CB she's screwed even worse than she can imagine.

Not everyone gets child benefit weekly, so it could have been a monthly payment which came in before the ex left, or like GlasweJen said, her ex might have been in receipt of it.

    ETA, Cross posted sorry!

If her ex got the CB then this may well hold up the IS claim. I was just asking as the OP only mentioned the tax credits.

I assumed that because tax credits went to the ex so did the child benefit, not sure what type of scum would walk out with the kids money and leave them to starve but you do get all sorts.

A number of foodbanks across the UK are listed here but I can't tell if there is one close to you.

Ella, have you called your health visitor? My friend had to leave an abusive home with her baby and her health visitor managed to get her baby milk from somewhere for free.

Not sure what you can do now tbh, short of taking the kids to social services and saying that you can't feed them and ask them to take them to their fathers at x address as he has all the child benefit/tax credit money. Maybe when they realise you've not spent it recklessly they'll be able to do more to help?

Have you not got access to the bank account where the child benefit goes?

You really need to get onto child benefit and tax credits and tell them he has left and has done nothing for you regarding money. See if they put a stop on the payments.

How can a man do this to his children?????????
