Even if you can't contact him, get in touch with CSA - might as well get the ball rolling - if after only one week he's not interested in the welfare of his children, you can bet he's not going to voluntarily pay child support. It won't help you immediately, but your claim for child maintenance will only be valid once they have been able to make contact with him. So get on that one right away.
It's absolutely disgusting that you are in this situation to be honest - I can't believe that government agencies, including Social Services have not been able to help you when in distress. If you were deliberately keeping your children in a home with no electricity, no food, no essential items that they need - they'd be removing the children from your care, yet they can't help you when you're in this situation? Get on the phone to your MP's office first thing in the morning as well!0 -
Jeez I have no idea but I am keeping the thread bumped for you.
I really hope someone comes up with something.
Which area are you in, someone may know of some local help?0 -
The CAB should have information on Soup kitchens, my bureau does. Some churches also help feed people in your situation and there is the Salvation army, I wouldn't worry too much about buying baby things at the moment.0

It's a long shot, but ask CAB for advice about the National Assistance Act 1948. Googling "National Assistance Act" produces a number of hits.
It *may* be that the local authority's social services dept is under a legal obligation to assist until the financials are sorted out. BUT, I am no expert in the use of this Act so please don't raise your hopes unrealistically. Approach it on the basis that it's a bonus if it helps.0
