On the other hand, in real life, if you had a new friend or neighbour who was asking basic questions in trying to convert to OS, you wouldn't tell them to look it up - you would answer patiently for the umpteenth time.......“the princess jumped from the tower & she learned that she could fly all along. she never needed those wings.”

Really sorry you feel self concscious (sp) about posting and hope you will summon up the courage to post later.
I am now totally confused about how or what to post and I have been on here for a couple of years!
Old style point - put soda crystals and boiling water down sinks to clear them.
May do pizza dough in the breadmaker for tea.
Not trying to cause an arguement but did not Martin say "There is no such thing as a stupid question?""This site is addictive!"

Very good point! I guess we'll just have to put up and shut up then
Sorry WOAS I don't agree, yes there have been a couple of replies to posts but then the Daily Thread was always there as a chatty over the fence, this is what happened to me today thread, we can't just ignore people when they post something that makes us laugh or makes us think. I agree that the long posts of individual mentions was tedious but replying to someone doesn't make it cliquey or cold. I think you may be assuming that we are only replying to people we know, that is not true. I barely know Kyle but I responded to her post this morning because it made me laugh my socks off and nod my head in understanding.
I think you have to give and take with that thread a bit more, why should one thread in a whole forum upset you so much?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

True.
Well said thriftmonster.
I don't see people on the DFW board taking this attitude with new posters.
When someone posts their SOA, they don't turn round to them and say, have a look at some other threads and get an idea from that do they?
Don't forget some of the would be OS are young, maybe never have had a good example set to them at home regarding cooking, food shopping etc.
We need to see it from their point of view. It must be really confusing.
For example my 10YO step daughter still can't identify some vegetables correctly in their raw state, let alone know what to do with them. If I hadn't had a certain amount of infulence on her, she would still be eating rubbish food the whole time. When she's older she could be a newbie poster on here, wondering what something is or tastes like?
Should we mock people like that, or take them under our wings gently, and ease them into a better way of living?
If someone asks how to freeze milk, for the millionth billion time, does it really hurt to answer them politely?
If the attitude that they should have looked it up, is how we are supposed to be here, I'm not sure i'm in the right place.0 -
I love the daily thread, the last couple of days it has gotten back to the way it should be:D and i hope it stays that way, it is os and chatty, a bit of both, would get very boring if everyone just posted and no one replied etc
The first few days after the issues began it was not the same and i posted less because i like knowing what people are doing and chatting, its fun

Couldn't agree more. I have been absolutely ASTONISHED by some attitudes to O/S questions mentioned in this thread - what IS this forum for??!? Yet again - I'm put off posting - no doubt people will be pulling apart your words and telling others off as has happened in the past couple of days - this is not okay in my book - live and let live. Skim what you don't want to read - big deal.
Also - I thought this chat was just about the Daily Thread - why are some people trying to make it about O/S in general again? This forum is obviously for the initiated and *regular* posters - I'll toddle on back to the friendly DFW forum - and leave you all to it.
I've probably trodden on lots of toes - so apologies for that.

I come on here every day but dont post as fequently and I have to say that I dont feel comfortable posting here anymore. I dont want to get told off, I posted a question the other day and got some really helpful replies but also one reply telling me I should have checked as this had been posted a few days back.
Whats the real harm in a repeat post - I am sure there will always be someone that would answer the questions so if it annoys you that it has been posted before then don't answer. If one of my first posts was answered with ' You should have searched the forum before posting' I def would not have been back and that would be a shame as I find this forum really helpful as I am not particularly organised but with the help of people on here I am getting there.
Sorry for the waffle0 -

I'm not in debt scotty, but can I tag along too.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0 -
The daily thread seems better - to be honest I think it's up to us "oldies" to make sure we don't get carried away, what do you think?
As for the same questions being posted over and over, maybe us "oldies" - again, lol - could PM the BGs so they could merge the threads? Just an idea really, I don't know if it would work :undecidedBulletproof0
