CAN I FREEZE MILK appears with mind numbing regularity
:rotfl: I thought it was just me being driven mad with this one - you can by the way ;)

I agree with MATH and Ticklemouse. The lists of acknowledgments and the one-line posts saying hello to individuals have put me off reading the whole thread. I see now that it puts new people off too. Yesterday's thread was much more enjoyable for me and many others who said so.

I agree I hate the "can you freeze..." threads but cant you just skip them and let someone else answer or a bg can point them in the direction of the search function (got to say squeaky was so good at that)

Thank you for your kind words:D I have to say that I came to MSE quite early (pre OS board) and in those days very few knew anything at all (nothing changes LOL). With regard to ignoring repeat threads I have started to not reply once I have answered a certain question for the second time but then you run the risk of people thinking you are in a clique and are ignoring newbies and the like and I can fully understand why people would jump to that conclusion. - off to put mini MATHLETT to bed now.

    I have.

It's interesting what the regular posters see and what the newbies and perhaps lurkers see and they seem to be 2 very different things. I agreed with another poster who put very eloquently yesterday that what might seem a very warm and friendly thread to some actually comes across as very cold to others and I completely agree with that.

What was disappointing yesterday was that a few of us commented on a number of "negative" aspects of the daily thread and to which I felt the general response was "if you don't like it go somewhere else". I was really stunned as we are grown women and men and it seriously felt like being back in the school playground. I and others then posted yesterday on the daily thread and I found it worked really well and I noticed a number of other new posters said the same thing. I haven't noticed those same posters post today on the thread , as an outsider it really looked like a "tough luck, we're going to do it our way" thread (from some).

Sorry if this offends some, I am just saying things as I personally have seen them.

I to agree with what Moggins has said
I have'nt been here very long and at first I was a little put off but then decide I didn't need to answer/speak to each individual
and I also agree that starting the thread at 1201am was a bit much I could imagine people clock watching just to get it done

I totally agree and its about being who you are in my mind and yes I have started the thread at 12 ish many times - not because im clock watching but because that is the time of day I tend to be sat at my computer reviewing and planning my next day - we are not all early risers.

Not pointed towards you Mrs Mix at all but are we seriously going to put a time on when you are "allowed" to start the thread here? :rotfl: if its the day we post it as then what the heck is the problem:confused:

gingin I don't agree that the general response was go and play elsewhere, I thought that a lot of what was said was actually taken on board by most people.

I do agree however that this mornings start to the thread did look very much like a tough luck thing and for this reason I decided not to post on it today as I thought it was taking back all the good work that had been achieved by discussing it yesterday.

I'm a sporadic poster on OS - and I really do not mean any offence - however, I find it hard to post on OS... I'm still very much in my infancy with it. I love the values of OS life and am working hard to incorporate them into my daily life.

I've tried searching for things - and not been able to find the answer, so on a couple of occasions I have started a new thread, only for a BG to come in a merge it, because there was a thread afterall - I'm grateful for this, I just wish I could have found it myself! So I am guilty of starting an un-neccessary thread.

I find some of the threads very difficult to post on - primarily because I do not feel part of the gang. I'm not able to be on these boards all day, and a thread can run to several pages between when I first looked at it, to the next time. Half the time its filled with useful posts and the other is more inane, personal chatter - is it possible to have a 'chatter' thread where people can just post, as well as the daily thread to inspire and assist us 'newbies'. I'd hate OS to become too regimented - but I do feel that some clarification is needed.

As the rest of the sentence says ' but for the most part everyone is supportive of everyone'.
It's only a few Troo, and I'm sure they don't do it on purpose - they've got their friends on the thread and they stick to reading those posts only, or perhaps consider the other posts unimportant/irrelevant.

As for the mentioning everyone - sometimes I do (when I've enough time) other times I don't. Anyone who doesn't like what I type is free to ignore my posts (as I believe a few do and I think I know who some of them are :D ) and those who appreciate them can read them (thankfully there seems to be more of these ... unless I'm deluded :p ). Sometimes some people might consider my comments to an individual 'unnecessary' but I make no appology for this - it might mean something to that individual, and if it makes that person feel less alone then I feel it's worth more than a 100 recipies or cleaning tips IMO.
I list them individually to try and make it easy for those who are busy to pick out what is relevant to them (if they want to) instead of them having to read the entire post. I thought it made for easier reading....

I do hope that a solution is found, and soon. I too have found the nasty remarks about what I and others have been posting upsetting. In all honesty I don't know what is meant about todays thread taking the mickey, nor do I want to.... especially as I'd probably be inlcuded even though I didn't know what it was all about at first! (even now I may not know the entire story - I only got as far as post 80 I think)

I'm sorry that my post has rattled on somewhat - I've typed and retyped it more times than I care to mention:eek:

I'm sure I read on another MSE board that the reason members were having to wait a while for replies on that board was because many of it's 'subscribers' had moved to another forum following something similar to this. I do hope that it won't be the case for this board, I've come to think of many on this forum as good friends - and like several on here it's the only chance I get to chat to like minded people. Since discovering OS I feel I've discovered myself - I think there's always been an OSer in me dying to get out

I actually hate it when this happens. When I was a newby on here I hated being referred to other threads or told to look in the index. I didn't know my way around the board and it just felt to me like I was being fobbed off or they couldnt be bothered to post because I was new and not a member of the elite group.

I felt the same way Black-Saturn. Not always fun being a newbie when you need help the most.
I don't know what I'm doing wrong but the search function doesn't seem to work for me as I don't ever seem to find threads on specific things that I want to know about.
