I am starting to imagine all sorts of symptoms, I'm wee-ing loads and having niggly low tummy aches but it's got to be waaaaay to early to be anything - I was trying to convince DH that even if we did fall first month out the symptoms don't happen overnight :(
Whereabouts in the cycle are you? You are not on our list:o
OK found you, you are CD13? Have you ov'd? You can't SS until you ov'd and only from 7DPO onwards:naughty:
Even that is not allowed, as pg symptoms are exactly the same as AF symptoms:naughty:
He's on late shift, so no pouncing is going to be happening in the Icey household tonight, also he's wanting to wait for Friday so that he'll have lots of boys to send my way. He's worrying that he'll not be up to job if I keep leaping on him left, right and centre. So Friday is it then :).
    Every other day is recommended:)

    Hi Ladies,

Hope it's ok to post here rather than starting a new thread (let me know if I should post elsewhere).....

Hubby and I have decided to try for a baby - exciting!

I've booked a doctors appointment as I'm pretty sure I don't ovulate. Let me explain my theory behind this - as a teenager I would go months without a period and then get a really, really heavy period. I therefore started taking the contraceptive pill (microgynon) to control the bleeding. Was on this for about 5 years and was then put on the mini pill because of my weight. Was on the mini pill (with sporadic periods) for about another 5 years. I stopped taking contraceptives 6 months ago and since then I’ve not had a period. So either way something is not quite right down there.

So have booked an appointment to speak to the doctor about this. What should I expect from the doctor? I’d read a few different things – they will not look at fertility until you’ve been trying for one year (but as this has been ongoing since I was a teenager do I need to wait another year?), you can have a simple blood test to see if you’re ovulating and if you’re not ovulating you can be prescribed clomid (what is this exactly? I presume a tablet which kick starts ovulation?).

Also I am obese (size 22/24). I am working on this although am I likely to come across the doctors not wanting to do anything until I lose all the weight (which will take years to lose at a healthy rate). Also I do fully appreciate that my weight is likely to be having an effect on my periods etc but I have always had the same problem and have not always been this size.

    Any advice grateful appreciated.

    Sounds a bit like PCOS.

    Hmmm... That's a hard one.
You could say you've been off the pill for 6 month and had no AF which is true. They may say come back in 6 months time though:o
you can have a simple blood test to see if you’re ovulating and if you’re not ovulating you can be prescribed clomid (what is this exactly? I presume a tablet which kick starts ovulation?).
Blood test is called CD21 test, done at 7DPO. It'll be hard to do that if you haven't ov'd:o

Clomid is usually taken for 5 days at the beginning of the cycle to induce ov.
Also I am obese (size 22/24). I am working on this although am I likely to come across the doctors not wanting to do anything until I lose all the weight (which will take years to lose at a healthy rate). They look at your BMI. They don't like it if you are over BMI30.
Losing just 10% of your weight can kick start ov, so you could try that.
If you do have PCOS, then they could prescribe you with metformin (drug used for diabetes), which can help with the weight.

    Good luck:)

Ooh yes please. I'm 26 by the way.

I was thinking that if I took it from the angle of I think something is generally up (like you've suggested perhaps PCOS) they might investigate more. Rather than me saying I would like a baby and be told I need to wait a year before they'll investigate.

    What does DPO mean?

I know you can get ovulation kits. Will they tell me whether or not I'm ovulating?

I am working on the weight issue. Started eating healthy food and am going to make a start at an exercise regime. Lost a couple of pounds already since Monday (although I'm sure most of it is fluid as I've only just started being good).

    Thanks for your advice :)

They usually give you the pill to regulate PCOS:o
    http://www.nhs.uk/conditions/polycystic-ovarian-syndrome/Pages/Introduction.aspx

Another option is to go private... Clomid is cheap, but testing and consultation may be costly.

There's Soy Isoflavones which is nature's version of clomid which you can get from places like Holland and Barrett.
    What does DPO mean?
Days past ovulation. 7DPO would be 7 days past ovulation.
If you ov'd ok, then the blood test will show that.
I know you can get ovulation kits. Will they tell me whether or not I'm ovulating?
Ovulation predictor kits (OPKs) detects LH hormone. This hormone peaks 12-36hrs before ovulation. Good predictor for BDing (baby dancing:cool:). It doesn't necessarily mean you have ov'd, it only shows that you are about to ov. Sometimes LH surges, but don't ovulate. It may surge again later.

Only way to be reasonably sure is checking BBT temps.

I find cutting carbs the easiest:p
