Not read back yet but hopefully everyone is ok.
I've just got the appointment through for my scan (check ovaries for cysts) and it's just typical that it clashes with a course that I'm supposed to be attending for work. I fought to get on this course as it was expensive and now I'm not going to be able to attend. Wont be able to get a refund either. So now I'm going to need to explain to my bosses why I can't go and my line manager is the type to make me feel bad about it. Grrr!
Is there anyway you can move the scan?

Mmm.....is there a....er....turkey baster like device involved with insemination? haha, sorry, I don't know how else to put that! I'm embarrassed for myself now!:o :rotfl::rotfl:
Will he be involved with the child's life, or is he happy to stay in the background until/if the child is adult and wants to contact him?
Here's hoping you get a BFP soon!
Just me, my DW wont carry, ever. Never ever wanted to either, always just wanted to be a parent!
Ha, I had assumed, based on all the jokes that there would be turkey baster too - but there isnt! It's a syringe - a normal 10ml one I think, and we kind of aim for the cervix and hope we've done enough!
He will not be involved in the childs life, but is contatable once the child turns 18 and wants to find out more. The laws have recently changed, meaning that if two women have a child through aritificial insemination (in a clinic or otherwise - i.e a home/hotel), then both women are named on the birth certificate. There is not 'father' section now. So the donor is legally protected (i.e. we cant chanse him for maintenace) - everyone is happy!
He has two of his own children, is married and has 2 'donor children' too, which is great. Because I have heard too many horror stories of people co-parenting with friends/strangers and it all goes horribly wrong when somebodies cirucmstances change. There's a very big chance we will move abroad - and quite rightly, we would like to be able to make that decision, if and when the time comes without having to consult with others.
Sorry - I feel so bad, like I am taking over the thread. I will be quiet now!
Oh and Praline, totally understand - thank you, we are still very much enjoying it! I am a Londonder, and also know Heaven, but from my MUCH younger days!!Baby 2b born March 2013! :j:j:j0 -
Phew @ 2ba... I was holding my breath as I figured I’d get abuse or a thanks!
Another reason why i stopped posting - I've become paranoid....
Lots of issues here at the moment.. Which is not good.
Emsbet - I'm beginning to think we must think in the same way as I know that in your position I'd just need to know... I'm feeling your pain as I daren't hope or try to prepare for either event. Can you go A&E for an earlier scan? I do not normally promote abuse of the NHS but this must be torturous and stressful which is no good either way.
Uncertainty really is a b*itch with PMT and no chocolate.
I also see that some people are having intervention issues. (people tend to blur for me unless something stands out - eg Emsbet stands out as I can empathise with what she is saying). It’s an awful business isn’t it. Hugs to all and I’m going to post my happy song again:
Btw – the cards (cannot remember who posted that!) I thought they were hilarious and I loved the mumsnet thread as well – right up my neck of the woods. Sorry I forgot to mention it. I’ll go back and thank that!
Praline.x (yes again. It's Friday and I really do not want to work. This place has had enough of my blood recently. If i am boring you: then please post... so we can chat:D0 -
Oh Praline I'm so glad that you're back as your posts make me roll on the floor laughing!!!0

My advice to the TTC-er's is 'have s*x'...
Me again (I am on a one woman strike today).
Just realised my advice above can be offensive to at least 1 member...
Just to make it clear - I write in a weird style that is supposed to raise a smile and possibly a hand over mouth in shock moment...
2ba - without sounding all 'I'm not racist cos I have black friends' can I say that I hope you don't mind me pointing out that my above comment includes you as well as surely you are still enjoying the pleasurable aspects of tcc-ing? I do incidentally have many gay friends/associates in and out of work, family and friends old and young and since childhood.
Heaven (are you a Londoner - Heaven is/was a famous gay club) was my raving spot for a while... Gosh and Fire *whistles down memory lane*
