We were invited to a wedding where our children were 'allowed' but then you are on edge all the time wondering what people are thinking of you and then there are no facilities to change them or whatever. Baby blue and your DD would be a bit bigger by then, and you will hopefully have a much nicer time at this new place.

Congratulations. It can be as dear or cheap as you want, and i still think marriage is important in this day and age. It is to me anyway. You must be over the moon. xx:beer:

Thanks. Yes we are very excited and want a small wedding but I still think this will cost us 10k, of course this is an estimation and I could be way out.

DD will be nearly 4 and baby blue 2 and a 1/2. I'm going to try and raise the cash over the next 2 years whilst over paying the mortgage and doing the house up. How doable this will be I don't know.

I'm already a Mrs as I changed my name by deed poll when DD was born. We both have never been married and to me marriage is for life, as a child I've been through so much divorce myself that it put me off marriage a little.

I applied last week for 2 of the older lads to change their surname and I was very surprised that I have sole parental responsibility and I don't need the fathers permission to do this. I didn't know the law had changed since I registered their births. I'm really pleased about this and it was the childrens decision at then end of the day. They don't know their father so they jumped at the chance when I asked them. Its all brought us closer, we were close anyway, but it feels like more of a family now as it can be difficult when a step parent enters a family.

I've already got my eye on bridesmaid dresses at BHS but I'll wait until later in the year to see if I can get it in the sale.

The cakes now out of the oven and is lob sided. Oh well at least it will taste good!

EDIT Yes TPA but its a nice stress :)

    Congratulations:j:j:j

How lovely. I'd love to get married, I've been with OH for 9 years this year, still waiting.

Great idea about changing your name, I don't like having a different name to my girls.

It's not like he's experience the big D either, as his parents have been married over twenty years, mine are celebrating 30 on May 2nd - oh well. Keep waiting:rotfl:

We managed ours for 6k in the end. BHS do lots of sales and barganous bridesmaid dresses and shoes. I cut out the middle man and bought my dress from Ebay direct from China, custome made. If you have someone to do alterations then this can be a really cheap way of buying your dress.

    Totally agree.

I loved every minute of our wedding. Cost around £5k (lighbulb rather dim in those days so can't say exactly :o) 5 yrs ago. We married in church, which cost around £200 incl church flowers, had a reception that cost around £2k due to having just over 100 guests. We kept costs down through:

    * buying favours and decorations online
    * had my dress made by someone who could sew rather than visiting a bridal shop
    * marrying late in the day so paid for less food for guests as they had already had lunch (I assume :D)
Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.

The weather is glorious isn't it. I hope it lasts a little while longer although we have been so lucky so far.

I hope the wedding plans come together, what a shame about the cottages in Llandudno (that's not too far from me either and it is lovely there).

I've a tear in my eye now, the boys wanting to change their name is lovely, so pleased for you that it is going to be straight forward.

The only advice I can give about the wedding is: Do want you and your DH2B want, not what others want or say you should have. I got so stressed about our wedding as both MIL and my mother wanted to invited great uncle bulgaria that we haven't seen in twenty years......I felt I could tell my mum to butt out (in the niceset possible way) but did not feel I could approach my MIL. I really wish we had just gone to Las Vegas and done it! We did end up with the small wedding we wanted but ended up bringing it forward by 6 months just to get our own way!! We ended up getting married on Christmas Eve:eek: I still laugh now at how many people were convinced I must be pregnant as we brought the wedding forward:rotfl:Like you cannot get married if you are pregnant:rotfl:. Anyway I still tease people that I am cultivating my baby still 6 years on! (Actually the size on my belly, this IS possible!)

    Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy xxxxx

It was Bodysgallen Hall Cath - Do you know it ? Stunning and no dance floor which suited us down to the ground as we don't want all that.

Some good ideas there ladies. Thanks

We want the ceremony at the hotel we've found , then a meal and then that's it...a few drinks and bed. You can get married by candlelight under this dome which I like the idea of but in May it doesn't get dark until late on.

I'm not too keen on favours , so a saving there !

If I was to have a dress made how on earth do you find one that you like - do you rip pages out of magazines ? I wouldn't know how to find a dressmaker - any ideas? You put a lot of trust in that person to get it right don't you? That's a scary thought.

Maybe with 10k in mind I've overestimated as we have done our guest list and there's 39 people on it including the children.obviously this is subject to change.
