I'm a bit of a lurker on MFW diaries but had to post to agree with you there.
My parents bought their house in the late 1970s and still live there now, 1960s terrace. When we were little (my little brother and me) it was fine, when we were teenagers it was a bit small, only one toilet/bathroom (though seperate rooms) was a pain for one. However my dad's job wasn't very secure so we never moved and they kept the house nice, had a conservatory fitted etc. At the end of my first term at Uni they paid their mortgage off, over 9 years ago and my mum got a promotion. Since then they've decorated every room in the house, had a new kitchen, a downstairs loo and shower room fitted in part of the garage, new bathroom upstairs too, new roof - i.e. spent lots doing it up, it wouldn't be worth moving now as neither my brother or I lived back there after Uni. It meant they largely paid for my lovely wedding and will be contributing to my brothers, have helped us both with money over the years etc.
I really want to follow by their example and not be paying moving fees all the time and having a massive mortgage when I'm their age, OHs parents have a reasonable one, not sure what but it's one thing I don't want to worry about.
So we are going to try and move now (struggling to sell house) and I know where and what I want to buy and then hopefully we won't have to move again (have an extension done maybe) and then we won't have all these fees to pay!
Sorry to interupt. I really hope to be here with a diary of my own soon if we ever move!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

It's not just the fees its the stress too.
I've been so emotional and up and down all week with it all. On Saturday I was a nervous wreck and jumping at the slightest noise - I have a lot in my life going on at the moment regarding DS2 as it is, it's all getting a bit too much.
Friday we got a phone call to say that 2 surveyors were coming around plus the buyer wanted to come round for a third visit. 3 lots of cleaning! You may ask why clean for the surveyors but I can't let anyone in my home if its a mess its just not me. With there being so many of us living here its VERY hard to keep it tidy as space is so short.
Anyway I was tidying up all saturday morning when at 11am I got a call to say that they couldn't come at 1pm could it be 4pm - erm no its derby day plus we wanted to clean out the loft. I'd already changed all the beddings and taken a cot down, stuffed the car with the highchair etc, they made arrangements to come the following day.
Today, they came at 4pm and I tidied again all day, 7 of them ..yes 7 came into my home, or is there their home?! . Manic and stressful are words that spring to mind. But they are a lovely couple, that I'm glad of.
Theres been a mix up and there is only one surveyor coming after all! I'm glad about that.
I keep thinking never again. I'm never moving again, but of course we will, in time.:)
Good news.... We won on the lotto - £10 but still a win.:j:j
I've sold an item on ebay - about £8 profit
I've got some laura ashley furniture to sell on ebay soon that we're not taking with us so there should be some money there.
Used a £10 off a £50 spend coupon for Mr S so I've put that £10 away
Other news ...
No news about DHs interview yet.:( Wish they would just let us know
I can't believe how well Cif cleans all my kitchen units - its the best thing since sliced bread! I'm addicted to itI can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
It sounds manic at your place at the moment, very exciting though. Good news on the lotto too.MFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

At least they sound keen - additional viewings always make me feel nervous in case they see something that changes their mind - but that's so unlikely.
My parents had 3 sales fall through and none of those had additional viewings, I think that they were staying away as they were too embarrassed that they were considering breaking the chainOPs so far £42,139

We had a lovely day at the Trafford centre yesterday DH got some clothes for holiday and we saw a gorgeous painting http://www.castlegalleries.com/artists/paul_kenton/popup.asp?theArtID=PKGC81 which we would love for over the fireplace in the new house. This is the smaller one which we want, the one we saw was 4k ! It's so much nicer in the flesh.
I’m having my hair done today, it’s been 19 weeks since I last had it coloured and cut which isn’t like me at all, I was trying to go as long as possible in between so I have 3 cuts this year and not 4. I think I’ll feel more womanly and human when I have it done as currently I feel like a ugly yeti with her roots showing.
We've only viewed our "new" house once sarahevie as I think its too early to do otherwise yet. We've now had 3 viewings from our buyers totalling 15 people visiting in those 3 visits. My dishwasher gets pulled open( haven't they seen inside a dishwasher before ?!) and my microwave
..someone please explain that one to me as I struggle to understand iti!!
Our surveyor was due to go around today but I’ve cancelled due to being nervous about our buyer saying he had no money and couldn’t afford “all this”. He also said that he was depending on the renters moving in straightaway and the renter said if front of us all that she was too busy with work and couldn’t move in until September! His survey on our property was also due today but apparently its been cancelled ( no one told me until last night ) and is now being done on the 26th. I don’t feel that I should have my survey done before him as what if he pulls out? I’m then stuck with £550 down the drain.
Its funny as when I spoke to my Eas about my concerns over the buyer she told me to cancel mine, I did and then my EA phoned me straight back saying there isn’t any worries about they buyers mortgage as he’s puttiing a LARGE deposit down.He doesn't seem to understand what's going on. The phone then rang again straithtaway and it was the EA of the house Im buying panicking about me cancelling the survey. I can’t believe how stressful its all been so far so early on. The EA said if he wants another viewing then they will tell him not to bring so many people.
I can't wait for it all to be over.
On Tcb £2.96 cleared today :j and tolounnna updated now on 25k so need to get cracking if I want my 2 a month vouchers.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
I've not been on much recently as I've been sorting the house clutter out and enjoying the sunshine.
I've joined the world of facebook , rather reluctantly but it seems o.k so far. My oldest is impressed that I've moved with the times but it wasn't really a case of that. I want to remain hard to find so that someone in particular doesn't know my every move. Still, I'm convinced that its safe so we'll see how it goes.
a round up :
£10 voucher off a Mr S shop, all delivered yesterday. I'm pleased with that as £10 is a lot of money
DH has had a wage increment so about an extra £40 in his wage packet every month, which helps.
DH still not heard about the job interview - all very strange and getting on a bit now. Well, no news is good news.
Holiday in 3 weeks! whoop whoop.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -

That is odd baout DH having not heard anything yet, still I will keep my fingers crossed. And the wage increase is good news too! :T
FB, that is one thing I am trying my hardest to avoid joining. OH is on it constantly and I really don't fancy doing the old "catch up" with old pals. To be honest I am a grumpy bu**er and not a huge fan of chit chat :rotfl:

When we came back from New York a few years ago I kept looking at framed pictures, posterclub is a good site and you can pay to have them framed nicely.
I am just getting into Toluna, i know it's worth the effort but find it difficult to get motivated on there!I've joined the world of facebook , rather reluctantly but it seems o.k so far. You can set your profile so that you can't be found if people search for you, you have to add the people you want.
I have to say i enjoy facebook and am friends with a lot of people i met on a baby forum last time round. It is an easy way of keeping in touch with people but it's not for everyone!
I don't envy your house stress, i hope the sale goes through really quickly!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
No one can see me on FB unless I want them too so atm I've just got family on there
I think no news is good news , he's been for plently of jobs where sometimes its been weeks and weeks until he's heard. I try not to presume anymore. Funny though as we think he was the only one invited back for a second interview. ( It's a internal job )
Thanks Cath, this is on canvas and the one in the shop was just stunning. We need to measure the chimney breast though to see if it fits. Does anyone know if you can still hang pictures on the CB if you have a wood burner in? We want one fitted.
We've just comer back from the hospital for a check up. DS 3 has just got the all clear from when he broke his leg in October when Baby Blue was born. It's taken a long time to fully heal. I'm glad that's all over now. I've told him if he climbs trees and breaks another leg that I will break the other for him! I don't think he would ever climb one again though now as he was in so much pain at the time.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0
