Aww thanks guys. Sorry I haven't been about but I've been busy and spending ..and spending.
I messaged Michelle back on FB privately so I did respond to her ..honest lol
We are trying to do as much to the house as possible before Mr Blue goes back to work ( he's still off sick but has a new job ) so the credit card has been hit big time.
We've pulled the garden apart and bought 3 huge bamboos £40 each (ekk) which should fill one half of the back of the garden to block out some houses, the other half we want a summerhouse to store garden stuff and keep bits in but I'm waiting for them to come down in price at B & Q ( could be a long wait!) so then we should be pretty private.
Yesterday another £250 spent on new good quality fencing which is higher than the old one and means that we have seized back some of the land at the back of the house than was used for car parking ( no need to have as we have a huge drive ). Mr blue and his father have done it themselves so we saved money there.
Next week, weather permitting, we hope to start digging up the trench at the side and back of the house to make the ground lower than the damp proof course therefore sorting out the damp, doing it ourselves will save £250. (the price of the fencing :money: )
Our new bedroom "it's a bargain and will last forever and won't date darling" wardrobe has finally come with free delivery , we've ripped out the old one but are temporarily stuck with it as the council won't collect it as they can't recycle fitted wardrobes, they don't even offer a chargeable service to take it away. Not that we would do but I feel this encourages fly tipping. I think the only other option for us is to do more jobs now and hire a skip ! I think we was lucky with our old council as they took anything away.
We've also sold two cars and gone to one. We've bought a new car which is a lot more economical. The car payments are higher but the tax and insurance is lower and the fuel will be a lot less ..plus no car maintenance budget so we are saving £300 a month already ( time will tell for sure )
I messed up big time on the mortgage front, which left us broke. I use to pay my mortgage at the end of the month , on the new mortgage it was leaving our account on the 1st. So when we moved on the 18th July and the paperwork said the 1st I thought it would be the 1st of September for some silly reason. So when the main paperwork came through and it said we needed to pay £1103 on the 1st August, 2 weeks after moving and I was horrified as we hadn't got it. So we've been overdrawn, luckily the H/fax only charge £1 a day so my mistake won't cost us too much.
I do intend to come back and start a new thread but with not making any OPs until the CC and small loan from FIL is paid off it seems pointless.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -

Nice to hear from you again, Iris.
I don't think it would be pointless. After all, your CC and OD and loan from FIL, and even your fence and digging, are just aspects of your journey towards having the house that you want and paying for it. The OD caused by that huge and unexpected mortgage demand, the debt from the expense of moving, and so on: those are all house-buying-debt just as the mortgage itself is. If you are trying to maximise your finances to get these things paid off as quickly as possible, and trying to do your fencing and digging as cheaply as you can, then you are just as much on the MFW journey as any of us.Starting again 13/4/19Home loan 1: £21,102.50 Home loan 2: £7,698.99Total owed: £28,801.49
