I've made an OP of £112.28 :j which is 14 days interest from the start of the move to when we possibly move house next Friday. We are still waiting to hear about this yet, if we don't hear by tomorrow I think it will be a no go until the following week..the day the lads finish school. I'm keeping them off school anyway to help with the move as we don't have anyone else family wise that can help with things.
I think we are going to be about £2.5k short for the move. I'm not sure what the actual figure is yet as I think the EA fees will be less as we sold the property for less than what we was quoted. We've been offered a interest free family loan to cover it which means not putting it on the CC. I've also had a look at the solicitors bill and it was wrong. It's a good job I keep on top of money nowadays
We've been selling some bits on ebay. We had a new tie hanging about from OHs old work place which we sold..it sold for £14 :j
I ordered some "grabbit" bits from Mothercare which were delivered and some were OOS. I was refunded for the OOS items ,even though I didn't pay for them in the first place! ( no wonder some businesses are in trouble )
I found £10 folded up on mothercares carpark when I went to pick my other grabbit offer up.:j ..So my grabbit ended up being free :j
I'm STILL waiting for my wardrobe refund of £299 to hit my card. It's been since the 18th June now. I'm sick of phoning up about it to be told that they have a shortage of staff to process it..sounds like they are hanging on to it for as long as possible to me, but it's o.k I won't forget about it.
I finally won and had delivered my dehumidifier from Ebay. I'm really pleased with it so we'll see what it picks up in the new house now. It was half the cost of buying a new one from a shop and it'll save the cost of hiring one now :money:
I've still had no surveys on onepoll. I need to contact them about it really now as its getting ridiculous.:(
Oh yes..one more thing not related to money..With the warm weather recently we've been going pike fishing every day ( constantly casting the rod & reeling it in )...and I caught a fish..me...3lb! I was very proud of myself and I was a true girl and screamed so much as I didn't know what to do after I had hooked it...no one tells you that bit. Luckily my lovely OH took over from there and unhooked it and threw it back. A true gent!

Well my buyers are up for moving next Friday so there's only the people that we're buying off to agree on now.
I need to contact Sky to cancel. I hope I don't have to give 21 days notice. I'll do it later after I've spoke to OH about what package we are going on in the new house. I'm after a new c/b deal so it's probably going to be V1rgin.
We enquired about hire van prices yesterday. £100 deposit and just under £60 hire for the day for a big transit.
I'm running out of boxes and I've now run out of brown tape so I can't pack any more until I get some. We've still got to take chandeliers down and fix a plug that is hanging off, so we're having a trip to B & Q today. We're also having a second hand gas hob put in as one of the burners on ours hasn't worked properly for ages. It cost a £5 off ebay and is worth installing it to avoid hassle off the new owners. We are weighing the old one in at the scrap yard with some other stuff so should get some money back there.
All in all a busy month. The car insurance is due , £1400 , and I haven't put enough away for it. OHs dads birthday, the only one that I haven't accounted for this year and MOT and services are due on both cars , the money should be there in my running budget but the bank isn't looking so good as the grocery budget is still overdrawn so much. I think more belt tightening is needed!I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Friday still isn't confirmed yet. We are still waiting for all enquiries to be answered but everyone does agree to the day itself.
It's hard not knowing as I've had to cancel sky tv, bb and telephone which all could go off anytime. It was such a pain getting Sky to agree to it and I had to tell them a white liethat I was going into temporary accommodation just so I didn't have to take it with me. I wasn't tied into any contract either.
We are going to go with BT next for phone and BB and have some CB deal when we can arrange it. We are arranging the TV side ourself. Don't ask but involves a large dish!
The sellers have put something down on the form about a water meter. I REALLY hope that they haven't got one. I didn't see one but I wouldn't really know what I was looking for. Has anyone got one? I'm not asking if they have one at this late stage as we are moving whether or not. I think they have filled in the form wrong ..well I'm hoping so anyway as on United Utilities website our bill would come in at £80 p.m  which classes as an average user ...we pay £30 ish currently. Can anyone please shed any light on if this sounds right or not ?I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Iris - our water meter is out in the pavement under a manhole so I have no idea how you are meant to tell
If they have one you are stuck with it.
We are 2 adults, WM, shower not baths, no dishwasher. We spend around £25 pcm. I borrow the neighbour's hose to wash the car as they are not metered!
Hope this is some help and fingers crossed for the move (and 'grats on the OP).Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.0 -
Our water meter is outside our property too under a manhole. I only check it to read the meter when we get the bill. I really hope they're not metred at the new house though as it won't be good for you at all.
Well done on your profitable day at Mothercare!
Your car insurance is sky high!
Hope you get your move date confirmed, the uncertainty is so stressful isn't it. Are the little ones helping you move or do you have someone to help you look after them on moving day? I remember my mum sending me to school when we moved when I was 14, I wasn't impressed as I thought it would be really exciting!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
My sister's water meter is just outside the house under a small metal square thing about 5 inches square.:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0

Ours is in the house, under the kitchen sink. Scary to hear it going round when DH has the hose on outside.
I wouldn't stress too much as yet. We don't pay anywhere near £80 per month. We get a bill for sewerage of £60 per year, paid as 2 x £30 in spring and autumn, and then my bills are quarterly and about £70. We do use water carefully in that we have water butts for outside watering and if they are looking low then i do start saving some water like from the kids having a bath.
I'm sure it won't be as big a problem as you are thinking.0 -
Thanks guys. I was expecting a meter like the gas/electric ones. Fingers crossed there isn't one there then but there's 2 of them in a 3 bed house so I think it would have been cheaper for them to get one. I guess that I have no real way of knowing now until we move in. I'm not delaying things by asking. I think things like that should be mentioned though beforehand.
Can I ask how much yours is Cath?
We don't have any help with the move, only Oh's dad and DS , 18. I'm going to have to keep the 2 other lads off school to help look after the babies whilst I clean. I know it's going to be manic but I've forward planned as much as possible to try to avoid anything unexpected cropping up.
Right back to packing, I've just bubble wrapped some kitchen shelves I'm taking. I think I've gone overboard wrapping it up but I'd hate it to be damaged in transit.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Thanks Michelle. That's a help. Is the sewerage money a separate thing in addition to the water meter?I can't be bothered updating this anymore0
