I'm very excited now, after a mad few hours making calls it seems to have settled down. The quote for building/ contents insurance has come down £6pm which I'm pleased about. I'm not going to a different provider this year I have enough to do already. Its hard doing it all with the little ones about, as much as I love them!
I've just dipped into the ISA though and the house has just cost me £545 for a surveyor. Not a structural one but I didn't just want a basic report.
The quotes for solicitors have been shocking. We are now with one and the cost is £2957 inc stamp duty. I've used these before so they are decent . Im glad I wasn't lazy and shopped around for a solicitor other than who the EA recommended, which cost an extra £300 more.
It costs a fortune to move.I can't be bothered updating this anymore0 -
Congrats on the house!

Stamp Duty is evil isn't it....grrrrrrrCurrently studying for a Diploma - wish me luck

Is sure does cost alot, and also is far far far too much hassle.
I honeslty don't know how some people can a) afford it or b) be bothered too move on a regular basis. A chap at work has moved 14 times in 20 years he reckons. I think the one move is enough for me!
Solicitors grrr don't get me started on them, you have to chase them daily, they charge the earth (i got billed £480 for a will amendment) and do very little.
Hope things all go smoothly for you hun.
Out of interest how much is your monthly insurance cost? its the one thing I haven't really look at in detail.

It is pure evil smlsave. I'm glad I bartered so much to get the cost down now.
The cost is so far:
EA fees - £2291.25, (which will go up due to VAT increase as this was sorted in October )
solicitors - £2957.15 Not including another cost of £54.00 for a SDLT1 ??. This fee includes stamp duty of £1670
Product arrangement fee : £995
survey fee is : £545
= £6788.40 Ouch!
Then of course there are removal van fees and a chippy tea for all the workers
LP - For buildings and contents ? It's personal choice what you go for isn't it. I won't go for the cheapest I find as I find it false economy in the long run when you have a claim so some may be horrified that its come in at £33.87 p.m for both including a new for old premium. We ( mainly I ) have expensive taste. I think you get what you pay for.
It sounds as if you and Mrs P have a REALLY big house LP. Is that it on your avatar?
