Listen to your daughter and do not get wound up by these or any ppc.
They will bluff and bluster to get you to pay but if you just ignore they will go away, just like a bad smell.
DPAct does not apply to dvla.

Another glory moment for Helen Dolphin and Mobilise!

Well done Helen, you must be so very proud of yourself.

So then....How come UKCPS (car parking solutions)are able to obtain personal details ie names and addresses from DVLA - what about data protection?

Because the Government makes millions of pounds a year from selling these details at £2.50 a pop.

I see from their letter that they are a Member of the British Parking Association (an approved Operator) a registered Bona Fida company!!!!

The BPA is not an official regulatory body. It is no more than a club set up and run by parking companies for their own benefit.

And also write to Mobilise (a registered charity) to let them know you aren't happy about them being associated with a bunch of scam artists.

Send a copy to the Chair of Trustees too - private and confidential at the Mobilise address.

As others have said, the BPA is just a members club and you would expect UKCPS to be a member of their 'industry's' membership organisation. That's all it is. UKCPS is a real company - I wouldn't call any PPC 'bona fide' though!

Please stop worrying about this, it's nothing. It's just as enforceable as if I charged you £50 to read this post and then if I pm'd you every 6 weeks with a threatogram letter bumping my 'fine' up to £100. You'd tell me where to get off wouldn't you?! :rotfl:

Keep the faith, keep ignoring. Don't pay these scammers. You'll never get that day in Court.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • Hi All,

First time I've posted on this site so please forgive me if this is in the wrong location.

My vehicle was ticketed for parking in a Taxi Bay at Aintree Retail Park.

Today I received a "Final Notice Before County Court Action" Letter from Court Proceedings. I have followed the advice of everyone and have refused all contact with UKCPS and Court Proceedings Ltd. All letters have been sent to my wife who was NOT the driver of the vehicle at the time of offence

They say, A typical breakdown of costs will be at least £325. They are clearly trying to frighten me with CCJ's and threats of reduced chances of obtaining credit or a mortgage.

The letter has NOT been signed, and the website courtproceedings.co.uk does not appear to exist.

How can these companies be allowed to get away with these unfounded threats. Is this not a form Bullying. Can we not report these companies for Harassment ?

I'm standing my ground on this but my wife is very nervous. Can anyone offer any words of comfort please ? :)

    Thanks...!!!

DPAct does not apply to dvla.

Well, it does. However, they will provide data, provided that the request is made subject to certain conditions of the DPA. A PPC will request information for the purposes of court proceedings, which is dealt with under s35 DPA.
  • Thanks for the correction. Hopefully the proposed changes will correct this moneymaking scheme though I doubt it.

They definitely won't. The PCs have every right to request the data for the purposes of anticipated court proceedings, unfortunately.
