In most cases, this bluff doesn't worry us. But as it is UKCPS they have actually put out a few real claims. If this one is for real then the guy has either got a nerve or is monumentally stupid, considering he's fresh from having had an identical claim booted into touch by a District Judge earlier this month as an "unenforceable penalty".
  • Hi everyone

I have just received the Court Proceedings Ltd London letter. I parked my car in a disabled bay with a disabled badge clearly displayed on my dashboard. When I got back 15 mins later there was a ticket on my windscreen.

I have had 1 letter which I ignored and now the Court letter.

I have no intention in paying this but wondered if anyone else was going through something similar.

    many thanks

Yes, we hear about the letters from this lot quite frequently.

Also, issues with disabled badge parking happens a lot, despite the fact that the blue badge scheme doesn't even apply on private land, so they would have no case even if you hadn't displayed it.

What is the 'contravention' though? Is it not displaying a badge (silly, seeing as you don't need to, and you were displaying anyway), or is it for something like not paying P&D fees, when you thought it was free, but they actually expect disabled drivers to pay as well?

Not that it makes a lot of difference, but there may be slightly alternative advice if its the second.

Hi many thanks for your reply

This was a retail park (I had nipped into Marks and Spencer's) there is no fee for using this car park at all.

Anyone would think they named the company in a bid to deceive people into thinking they were far more important than they actually are.

I of course, couldn't possibly comment.

    I mean, Court Proceedings Ltd??!!

Just so there's no confusion or ambiguity (since our PPC friend regularly impersonates HM Courts Service and it can catch people out), in the unlikely event that genuine court papers are received, they should not be ignored as that would result in a win by default.
