Will Ryanair Stop Me From Boarding If My Hand Luggage Dimensions Are Slightly Over??
Comments

I flew from Liverpool last week and everyone had to put their hand luggage in a cage. If it didn't fit you had to pay to put it in the hold. Most people had problems getting the wheels in, in spite of it being made clear the maximum sizes allowed. One man managed to smash one wheel off but he couldn't smash his second wheel off. He had to pay and is now left with a useless wheely case.0

Does seem very hit and miss, flew Ryanir from East Mids a week ago and they too seemed to randomly check hand luggage by trying to put it in the measuring cage! Luckily for us they did not look at ours as we had the expander unzipped and it def would not have fit in the cage. Upon leaving Palma this wed, they seemed stricter with excess weights on hold luggage and did charge extra, however were not concerned with cabin luggage and had only 1 cage for 4 flight queues.
Be careful their seems to be no consistency!0 -

I saw someone getting into bother for taking a sports bag which clearly held a lot less than the case you can take as hand luggage, one of the dimensions was bigger than allowed. You need to follow the rules to the letter with Ryanair. I've had my luggage weighed, told to buy a new poly bag for toiletries as it was the wrong size and had my case put in the cage that checks the size. Don't travel with them as much now due to the sheer hassle. Have booked for later this year and plan to get an apartment with a washing machine so I don't need to take a lot of clothes.0 -

how sad am i? getting excited over a little case that will save me a fortune in checked luggage lol
Do you have the catalogue number of the bag please.
We have booked an Emirates flight in a couple of weeks and only just had a look on their website and they are stingier than Ryanair.
54x38x20 and only 7kgs - and no handbag so going to have to change our hand luggage bags.
Thanks0 -
But with Emirates you are allowed 30kg of hold luggage per person so you could just check in your usual cabin luggage bag into the hold as well as your main suitcase.0

The handle made them fractionally too big for the basket, so we took the handle on the top off. The pull up handle is still useable and if it has to be carried there is a handle on the side. Its not worth taking chances, I have seen so many people being stopped for too large bags or more than the one hand luggage allowed.
Hi Did you get the 16 or 20inch case.
I got the 20inch to use as hand luggage on this sat am i am flying flybe.
Flybe say 50x35x23 is that height/width/depth? or height/depth/width?
20inch case is 51-height 19-depth 34.5-width
help please?0 -
Everyone going through towards security had their hand luggage put in the cage and weighed at Treviso this morning. The woman was letting people go through who had bags that were slightly over (sometimes actually quite a big bigger) as long as they were under the 10kg. She wasn't lenient with that. They didn't check again at the gate (although security or police were doing random searches)
At Stansted last week they were picking out people from the queue who had bags that looked big at the gate as we were boarding and measuring and weighing the bags. The people here were not lenient whatsoever.
Moral of the story. You can risk having it oversized but be ready to be made to pay the £35.0
