Will Ryanair Stop Me From Boarding If My Hand Luggage Dimensions Are Slightly Over??

Rather than have to pay £35 I would take a measure and use it rather than read the labels, alot are the case size not the complete size, if you chance it one day very soon your luck might run out.

When I used Ryanair I found they only bothered with those with fit to bursting bags/suitcases and those they looked like they were struggling with the weight of their luggage. We only took holdalls so they didn't bother with us.

I'd try not to risk it personally, although I'm sure some people on MSE have ripped off the wheels when needed, so if you can do that go for it!

Can you take a big rucksack that you just don't fill i.e. will squash down very easily into the size check thing? Or do I have to buy a rucksack that will fit into their size checker thing?

3 Times in the last month I've seen them check EVERY bag.

Am I being a bit thick here, but why can't they all use the same dimensions? I mean I would assume that all the overhead lockers are much the same size?
It would all make it too simple wouldn't it?

The bottom line is that Ryanair have their rules about hand luggage dimensions which are clearly stated on their website.

Regardless of how many people say THEY'VE never had their hand luggage checked, the truth is that Ryanair can refuse you boarding if your hand luggage is over-size.
If that happens and you have to go back and check the luggage into the hold it will cost you.
If the check-in desk for your flight is closed you'll miss the flight.

It's your choice really.
The only way to be 100% sure is to take a bag that is within their dimensions.

Play by Ryanair's rules or risk being denied boarding.

I don't think anyone has ever said on here that Ryanair are not maximising their profit.

Pollycat, the "put simply" started the sentence for a reason; I didn't want to go into the whys and wherefores surrounding different companies' approaches to business.

Why do people even attempt to get round the rules when Ryanair make them so painfully clear? I forever have to watch the indignity of my countrymen in Stansted Airport argue about things such as priority boarding, baggage, etc - yet the rules are very clearly written in Polish on the website!

I don't want to get around the rules - we just wanted to use a bag we'd already got - just not fill it! rather than buy a new one ...... large rucksack which can be screwed up very small if not taking a lot in it....
