Will Ryanair Stop Me From Boarding If My Hand Luggage Dimensions Are Slightly Over??

Will Ryanair Stop Me From Boarding If My Hand Luggage Dimensions Are Slightly Over??

The Dimensions they allow are 55cm by 40cm by 20cm however the wheels on my hand luggage take it over the allowed size. i was recommended to buy the luggage from a forum on here as it was cheap from pound stretcher and was within the luggage size however im worried that the wheels will take it over. how finicky are they should i worry as i dont want my hand luggage to be refused boarding... Thanks in advance for your advice

Their site says all wheels and handles must fit inside the dimensions, so there is your answer.
"Take no chances" is my moto these days with airlines, they are all waiting to pounce.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

I agree with the above poster - don't take the chance unless you want to pay more.

Ryanair are the pits so be prepared for it to cost you a fortune.
Thanks to MSE I cleared £37k of debt in five years and I was lucky enough to meet Martin to thank him personally.
  • My plan B at the airport if they are !!!!!! about it is to cut the wheels off at the airport =P

Sadly, it obviously wasn't within the size.

What made you check the allowed sizes ?

  • I reckon you'll probably be OK but at some point a pernickity employee will catch you out.

I like the idea of the big poacher coats - how to beat Ryan Air:

They are fine if you play by the rules, which are very clear.

    Is that not a contradiction?

Having recently flown Ryanair and watched person after person have to measure and weight their hand luggage and then pay extra to put it in the hold ....... I wouldn't risk it!
Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree! :D
  • so the concensus seems to be dont risk it, so where can i buy a cheap yet correct dimensional hand luggage bag???
  • tripp luggage or take a tape measure to a local shop or check the size on the label it is quite easy. like buying shoes in the size you want. enjoy your trip
