How the train company has acted and how they should act are two different things.
Those are guidelines on what they should do in regards to children.
Quite, I was talking about how they have acted, not how they should act. The train company have deemed that the child is old enough to take responsibility for the penalty on their own, yet when the penalty was increased they deemed that she wasn't. I was merely questioning all the people defending the train company as to why they think this an acceptable position for the train company to take.I've given up trying to get my signature to work with the new rules, if nobody knows what the rules are what hope do we have?0 -
And do they tell you whats happened and the truth all the time?
And does it matter, not really, they may make mistakes like all of us, except that once I had to pay and take it out of their pockets. Today I do not have to pay, and guess what, it still comes out of their pocket.
Same with the fare Dodger, the parent will pay, and if they have any sense, the pocket monies are liberties are reduced to reflect this.
Just part of the travesty of life, pay and forgets0 -
Well this post has certainly got some people wired.
Just to address some points raised.
Police do not issue speeding fines for 31 mph in a 30 mph.
They just cannot prove it. I have even asked traffic ops who state that each force have different rules 10% +1, 10%, 10% plus 3.
You wouldent be able to tell whether you are travelling at 31 or 30 as difference is so small.
I agree - if this was a Saturday night out we may all have come to fisticuffs by now - good job no-one can actually make physical contact
Well it may just be an urban myth (31mph) but we were warned that Heddlu Gogledd Cymru had a zero tolerance and I definitely know someone who was done for 33 in a 30 - didn't do a lot for the tourist industry as the FPN falling on the doormat kinda put a damper on the holiday. Then again speed limits, like fines are there for a purpose - to act as a deterrant to doing things we shouldn'tIf you think you are too small to make a difference, try getting in bed with a mosquito!

Surprised to see someone done for 33 as I thought they worked on 10%plus 2mph which is 35.This takes into account possible errors with speedo's being poorly calibrated (old mechanical ones that is)I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Regardless if offender can or cannot open mouth the arguement is that for the train/tram company to issue fines they must have guidelines on how to deal with children, as she had a child ticket she is classed as a child. For them to just send her on her way is unacceptable. If my son or daughter got caught I would expect a letter from the company involved explaining me of the situation.
So do you normally just read the 1st post then comment?
Do you manage to read anything? She did not have a ticket which is why she got a penalty fare.
:wall:
Again i was discussing this and your arguements with the BTP today about whether we should inform the parents and he didnt say we had to either unless they were of a very young age - though if they were then he would be very suprised that they were on a train anyway.one of the famous 50 -
Wow there are some perfect parents in here, Its fine you be bad and i will take it out of your pocket money etc, Some kids dont get anything because some of us cant afford to give kids pocket money never mind pay a fine, The fair yes if you knew about it you pay to save on the highter amount coming later.
Why dont we all just take !!!!s, Schools if your late kids its £20 fine, O dont tell your mum and dad then i can send a bill for £40.
You didnt pay your gas and electric bill on time thats £30 fine each for every day over (its in the small print didnt you read it) and i bet you all pay on the day in comes through the door!!
Dont it sound daft ??
Get real kids are kids no matter there age, They tent to take advice of all there mates, The company knew her address to send the fine with the extra cost, so they should send a letter letting the parents know as well, as she a minor, it could have been paid without the pump up price.
O and Freddie get over your self pal i cant see my 42" tv for your big head0
