Why is that any different, just because the money is going to a local hospice.
Back to positive discrimination. It is ok for people to clamp if they give the money to charity, but not ok for people to clamp to be reimbursed for losses.
Not very fair is it?
But to be fair, I haven't disagreed with any of the posts saying clamping would be ok with strict limits for release fees etc.0 -
I could see the clamping firms taking it to some Human Rights court, on some sort of appeal?
Maybe even the landowners themselves, they need something official which actually stops using their land as a free car park. It may be money saving to the ignorant driver, but it does cost somebody else in the long run.
To add to this further, the government is also only banning clamping by private companies on private land.
It doesn't say they are banning clamping by their own authorities on public land, that is another big flaw in their concept. But they always have the backup that their penalties such as tickets are actually enforceable.0 -

That is some vision. The path to the ECHR is not a given.
What grounds do you see holding all the way to ECHR and which the ECHR will actually hear ?
They can join the queue behind the miners, weavers, shipbuilders, lamplighters, sagger makers, farriers etc.
Landowners need only prevent entry or act within the law if offering parking. Private Parking Companies are most often not the landowner but I agree with your implied sentiment that the landowners should cut them out.0 -
I'm not really talking about PPC or clamping firms, the rights and wrongs, the legalities, just merely what I think could happen.
A lot of people, like them or not, are going to be put out of work, and they have just as much right as anybody else. So if they choose to get in line and appeal they will.
It is a possibility, and not such an unbelievable or extreme one at that.
It is just basically giving the land owners the same powers to issue enforceable punishments for parking on privately owned land, that the government has over enforcing punishments over parking on public land, thats all. I can't really see a problem with that?
You could ban all clamping, all PPCs. Make it so the land owner has to issue the tickets, provide evidence etc, but only make these tickets enforceable by the land owner, which at the moment they are not.0 -
A lot of people put out of work ? Now tell me who's fault is that ? They have been told to clean up their acts, but they have left pure greed corrupt them, they have had the opportunity to act in a manner that ensures that they have an industry.
They deserve to go out of business because what they do is illegal for the most part, a huge majority do not act within guidelines set out, most have ccj's against them that they ignore, or they setup new limited companies to avoid paying people back money they have been extorted out of.
They don't pay taxes and deal in cash only for the most part, one company used the vat number of barclays bank, they are a blight on motorists , their demands consitutes a penalty, that is illegal for private company to issue.
Basically clampers are scum, they act as if they are a law to themselves, come the new year they will be history, for the landowners, they need to find out what works in scotland, they are part of the uk, what happened there can be directly compared, saying its irrelevant is untrue, its very relevant.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
This thread is getting like the Monty Python sketch:- Is this a 10 minute argument or are you booked for the full half hour.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Or the Monty Python parrot sketch with liam8282 as the man in the shop.
"This industry is dead, that's what's wrong with it"
"Oh yes the clamping industry, lovely menacing threats and criminality"
"The threats don't enter into it, it is no more, it has ceased to be"
"Nah, nah it's resting"
"Resting?"
"Yeah , probably tired and shagged out after a long night clamping ambulances and hearses"
"It has ceased to be! it has expired and gone to meet its maker! Its a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! Its metabolic processes are now history! Its off the twig! Its kicked the bucket, its shuffled off its mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin' choir invisibile!!
THIS IS AN EX-INDUSTRY!!"0 -
Clampers appealing on the basis that their human rights are being trampled upon. The sweet irony of it. The same vicious bully boys who never gave a second thought to the human rights of the people that they so ruthlessly robbed for years.
Good luck with that. But I wouldn't go booking any foreign holidays on the strength of it.0 -
Na, let them, I'm told there's some good deals with Kiss.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0
