We have 11 parking spaces in our (admittedly) small car park and are in the corner of the estate which is busy and close to a well-trafficked shopping centre - especially at weekends. We do not have and never have had a parking problem of any magnitude though we suffer the odd inconvenience when, for example, a heavy delivering across the road is offloaded or a courier delivering to another neighbour stops on our forecourt. (I've no doubt the same thing happens when couriers delivery to us). Clamping them wouldn't solve the problem but would instead create a worse one. Its a question of give and take.

If, liam8282, the problem you seem to face is as substantial as your dogged defence of private clamping would suggest then you would do well to invest in some decent fencing and be done with it. Then again you might just be arguing for the sake of it but I can't imagine that life in Leeds would be quite that dull.
My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016). :(

For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com

I have a sneaky suspicion liam8282 will be off to the Jobcentre once these laws come in, or is a PPC troll trying his best to drum up some business for when clamping is outlawed.

You are wrong all cowboy clampers are greedy scum, they will soon be greedy scum looking for a job ;) really they only have themselves to blame, it works in scotland, they are part of britain, it will work in england and wales.

There is no redemption for these scum, they clamped a district nurse doing her job, they sat there laughing at her, they could have put lives at risk - SCUM ! No other words for it ! Defend them if you wish, normal people will condemn them.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • Methinks only a clamper or someone very closely connected would spend their day defending these soon to be defunct thieves. Note the trenchant ignoring the answer every time it is given:

"There will be a huge parking problem now these scumbags cannot rob drivers blind"
    "Well install a barrier then."
"Oh but that costs a bit."
"Well is it a problem or not?"

And on and on. It is very telling that only one (of course unconnected) person has leapt to these charlatans' aid. Maybe everyone else is too busy celebrating the imminent visit to their local dole office of some of the most disgusting specimens of human life ever to have crawled out of the swamp.

Installing barriers is no solution for a business that has a private car park.
Why not? Even if it's an unlocked barrier that you have to raise by hand, there's a social stigma to getting out of your car to raise it and drive in unless you're an employee there.

To get back to the point I am making, what can you actually do about people who park on private land?
Let their tyres down. Perfectly legal as long as you don't cause damage, but causes a lot of inconvenience to discourage repeat offenders. Innocent parties who "didn't see the signs" would just have to source a foot pump and spend half an hour pumping furiously rather than forking out £250+. At least they won't make that mistake twice.

Just a shame it's going to take months to get the ban in place, one last big push from the clampers to get as much money as possible before getting banned?

That system would probably cost more in the setup and maintenance than for example a small newsagents, hairdressers, butchers........... could make in profit to pay for it.

Also, what if there are is an entrance / exit, would you pay for 2 barriers.

What if the parking spaces are on a main road....

    The list goes on.

As usual your system would only work in one specific scenario.

    As you once posted

    Oh dear:o

You asked a question I posted an answer.

My answer was one possible workable solution.
    There will be others.

What ever horse you happen to be flogging has been deceased for some time.

Your arguments and reasoning are flawed.

I appreciate that if you have a vested interest in keeping the clamping business going, which you appear to have, then you will keep knocking back the suggestions but to be honest you would be better occupied seeking gainful employment.

    Clampers =scum

    Prove otherwise:D

If you own a parking place you can install and run a system that will help control spaces if you wish, these systems are tax deductible on the business, if you lease this equipment I believe its 100% on the business.

This ban is a very positive thing, no longer will we have these scum blighting our lives, I am not fond of the tories on a whole, but my thoughts of them have taken a positive push to them.

I gave a pretty simple scenario of a small shop, with a small car park, which needs to be accessable to staff and customers.

I have not heard one single practical solution to stop people parking without permission.

No solution is enforceable, so at the end of the day, I do not believe there is one single practical solution.

I don't want to get into silly small minded name calling such as all clampers are scum. Especially if you fail to accept or acknowledge that the people parking without permission are just as bad, if not worse.

I have said over and over, that the cowboy clampers deserve everything they get, but I could also see the benefits of legitimate clamping companies.

Now we have been left with no deterent at all, ANY private land is fair game if you want to park on it.

Stick lovely letters on car's windscreens/side-windows saying "this car is parked illegally", will stop people parking over and over if they know they will get annoying stickers. For repeat offenders get the number-plates, pay your £2.50 to the DVLA and send a lovely letter to the registered owner, making no demands for payments.

Except the car has not been parked "illegally", because no law of the land has been broken. There might be a case to answer in civil law, but that's not the same thing.
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
