I found that when I made some popcorn chicken for my daughter.
They get bulked out quite a bit by the batter, a little goes a long way.0 -
My copy arrived last week but I have yet to make anything from it. Doner kebabs will be first though! Should save us some money in the long run.£2 Savers Club 2011 (putting towards a deposit

I bought mine from the German distributer via ebay a while ago. It worked out the same price as buying it from the UK one but I also got the stand with it.
Make sure you buy a BORNER food slicer though which is the best and will last for years, the others are copies and won't last as long.
My current Borner is white, I think the lastest ones are black.
The original one that I bought in the 80's was orange and lasted me about 12 years. One of the inserts with the metal blades (the ones that you use for chips) split but that was only after 12 years so I did have good use from it.
The YouTube vid below explains exactly how to use one.

Keep your eyes on ebay for one of these.
I won a secondhand one a few days ago for 99p and it is in really good condition.
I couldn't be without one now after slicing the kebab meat so thinly, now I have a spare.
Take care on there though as there are some that I can see being advertised as the real one but from experience (I have just bought my 3rd one over a period of 20 + years) they don't look like the real thing.0 -
Noticed today that they sell chilli sauce and garlic mayo in the 99p store, huge plastic squeezy bottles (just like in the kebab shop), anyone tried them?Real men never follow instructions; after all they are just the manufacturer's opinion on how to put something together.0

Yes.
They are great, def a must if you intend making the lamb doner kebabs.
We use the garlic mayo and the mint mayo, they are normally 99p for 500ml in B & M, discount stores etc and £1.98 for the 1 ltre bottle in Heron discount food shops.0 -
For those of you who've made the sweet and sour chicken balls - do they keep? I wanted to make them tonight but DS and I are going out so won't be eating at the same time as DH. I wondered if I could cook them then keep them in the fridge for him to reheat. Would that be possible/taste nice? The rice would keep fine but not sure how the batter would be on the chicken.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked0

I suppose you could always give one batch less frying time than the other lot, then he can reheat the fat and just fry them really quickly.
I don't think they will be as nice if he nukes them as the microwave will make them soft.
He could put them in the oven for a few minutes to heat through if he doesn't want to fry them.0 -
just ordered my copy today.... to say DH is excited would be a huge understatement!!!!0
