Has anyone made the chip shop battered fish yet?
I am doing this tomorrow - just wondered if anyone had already made it and had any tweeks to the recipe in the book?
And also, which oil did you use and did you fry it on a hob or in a deep fat fryer?
Thanks in advance!0 -

I used standard sunflower oil in my small deep fat fryer, we swapped an ounce of the flour for cornflour to makei the batter a bit crisper. It matters not if you try and fail, and fail and try again; But it matters much if you try and fail, and fail to try again.

made the sweet and sour chicken balls tonight. would agree with the previous post, this is a very large portion once cooked. being a family of 5 i decided to double the recipe, lets just say, were having chicken balls for supper, breakfast and lunch tomorrow - daughter said the sauce was best shes ever had, but i found it a tad too vinegary
also made the sesame prawn toast. tasted a bit too like fried bread, and lots of the seeds came off when frying, but i think leaving it in the fridge for longer than the suggested hour, might help
have got doner meat cooking in the oven, ready for tomorrow nights tea, as per suggestions previously that flavour improves if left, and also slices easier
have taken pics, but tbh a chicken balls, a chicken ball at the end of the day (although one does look like a duck/dachshund depending on how you look at it lol)

I've never even eaten a sausage & egg Mcmuffin, but now have 4 sausage patties ready in the fridge:)
We have OH's boys for the wkend - they haven't had them either but like the idea! So we're having those for lunch, and honey & soy chicken wings for dinner. I'm sure they'll be lovely:)0 -

I made the banana muffins yesterday. My lot didn't like them at all, which is really good news for me because I thought they were gorgeous
. Really light and moist, just like a good muffin should be. I'm going to freeze what's left and have one whenever I fancy something sweet.
This morning I'm making the breakfast muffins, which have quickly become a regular Saturday breakfast. It stops my stomach rumbling all the way through drooling over James Martin and Saturday kitchen. Tonight I'm going to try the garlic and chilli chicken as it's my favourite from the local Indian restaurant. I love Fakeout Saturday"Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.

They only take 45 secs to defrost in the microwave if cooked on high.0 -

Economy Gastronomy did a biscuit roll for the freezer recipe. You just chopped off slices. Never made them, always meant to:o
Bumped it up & captured the link at the end of the thread.0 -
i have just made the bacon & egg muffin and it was yum. Can't compare to mcdonalds as i have never had one from there but this was so nice, just seemed to make a lot of washing up though. But that's probably more of a reflection on me being a messy cook lol0
