Wilkinson have some really small plastic food containers for 35p each.

I bought one last week to try.
You can use them to make up your spices in advance for your lamb doner kebab so that you know you will never be short of one ingredient.
It's always the case where you have everything ready and then realise you are missing one particular spice.0 -
Made the Big Mac tonight - really nice and tasted authentic - although the burger was meatier! Son said he thought it was really nice but not very like BM but I think that was because he didn't have the dill in the sauce or the burger, or the onion and lettuce (he doesn't like salad!) so he said next time he'd try it with everything.
Also made the curry sauce from The Curry Secret tonight and am freezing that for later in the week.0 -

They sell jars of garlic powder in Lidl for about 70p and the onion powder is or was 97p in Sainsburys or you can buy it on ebay.

i buy both powders in wee packets from local delii its as fine as flour no grittiness to it at all ,it costs abot 80p a packet am sure ethnic grocers have them if you live near i live in north of scotland very rural so the deli shop is a real treasure others have posted they buy it on line others use granules bought from regular supermarkets with success hth0 -
Made the sausage & egg muffins today and everyone loved them:) Only OH had ever had a proper one and a long time ago. A lot of faffing about though, blimey it took ages! Think I'd cook a batch of sausage and freeze them for a start. Also the eggs were a bit too big for the rings, tbh I think I'd use the idea but just do without the rings, then you could put a lid on the whole pan.
As for the wings, see my rant on the GC thread...the wings were off:( Ended up with drumsticks. Did the KFC-type coating but without egg/flour etc and oven-cooked them on a rack over a foil-lined tray. They were lovely, even I ate the skin.
Also potato wedges, which we've done often but not to this recipe. OH and I loved them, boys said they preferred them the way we normally do them (which would be par-boiled, onto a tray, sprayed with oil, seasoned with salt & pepper).
Over all though, I like the book, it has some good ideas and it's fun to say we're having Macd's/kfc/whatever:)0 -
Just read this thread from beginning to end :O
Book now on my Xmas Amazon wishlist - therefore oh should be buying it for me in the next few days
The pics on here have swung it for me though totally - im now starving at 330am thanks!!!Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
OH made the Garlic Chilli chicken tikka last night. I had a batch of the chicken tikka and the curry sauce already done in the freezer so it took him 20 minutes, start to finish, which is amazing for him. It tasted lovely but needed a bit more garlic (we love lots) and it was missing something so I'll probably start by adding red pepper next time. OH made coffee this morning and proudly told me the kitchen smelt just like a real Indian restaurant :rotfl:."Who’s that tripping over my bridge?" roared the Troll.
"Oh, it’s only me, the littlest Billy-goat Gruff and I’m going off to the hills to make myself fat"0 -
