I decided to try the Breaded Chicken Strips as I usually buy them for my daughter.

Although I buy the ones made from chicken breast ie not the minced ones there are still quite a few additives in some of them.

Anyway, I breadcrumbed them as it says but then did them again so they had a double coating before I fried them.

We do have a deep fat fryer but I have only used it abut 3 times in 8 years so didn't bother getting that out.

I just poured about 5cm of sunflower oil in a medium pan and fried them in that.

They only took a couple of minutes or so as I had cut the strips quite thin (I used a pair of scissors that I keep just for food), I then cut the strips in half so ended up with about 12 pieces of chicken from a mediuim sized fresh breast.

They were very crunchy and she enjoyed them but for me they didn't have enought flavour, I think I will increase the spices if I make them next time.

I had the ring at number 5 (electric cooker) at first which was too hot hence the darker piece at the top of the picture. That was from the first batch that I fried (I put about 4 in at a time) the second one was cooked at number 4 and they were a lot paler and not as hard as the first lot. ;)

They are quite a decent size once cooked so I would think 3 would be enough for a child if serving with potato waffle and beans etc.

I've just ordered a copy from Amazon, can't wait for it to arrive. :j

I've had instructions from DD that the doner kebab will be the first thing I have to try. :D

Oh my goodness!!! Made the donner kebab this morning (to portion up for the freezer - not eat for breakfast :rotfl:) and it is exactly like the 'real' thing!!!

I managed to get some value lamb mince so it was nice and cheap aswell :D

Decided no to take pics as there have already been some posted of this dish.

Only problem I found (and its not really a problem as such) is that the house STILL smells like the lamb and it was cooked over 7 hours ago............

Having the lamb doner for tea, about to tuck in.

Made the kebab shop coleslaw but used red onions for a milder taste as didn't have time to leave it 24 hours. Also made kebab red sauce and garlic sauce mmmmmmm.

Verdict...very nice, couldn't slice the lamb thinly as it fell apart a bit but it really was delicious. Would do this again. Off to suss out what to make next.

He says in the book to put your sliced onions in cold water for 30 mins then dry on a paper towel before using.

I did this and it is the first time ever that I have had raw onions and not tasted them the morning after. You know what it is like when you have a kebab, your mouth feels like the bottom of a budgies cage in the morning (that's the politically correct version :D), it doesn't after this kebab and salad.

    ;)

My husband came home from work and as soon as he stepped into the kitchen he said it smelled like a kebab shop, he loved the smell.

I've only made it the once as per my pics on here but, I wonder if you needed to mix it a bit more so that it was more compact. He does mention about not having any air holes in there which could be the reason that it fell apart.

Put it in a plastic food bag, that way you will be able to squeeze it a lot more to make it smoother.
