The book also recommends making the sauce and refrigerating it for at least an hour before it is needed. :)

I did the first time, but didn't the second (I forgot to start early enough!) and didn't notice any difference - but that might be just me!
  • Sausage patties, egg and processed cheese in a muffin went down a treat with a gang of 25 year olds after toboganing.

Almost mastered the chip shop batter, got it lovely and thin and the taste right, just needs to be a bit crisper. Two large pieces of reduced price River Cobbler 3 lrge potatoes and six table spoons of peas, the whole meal for three cost less than £2.00

I got a copy for xmas was a close call my mum said she had to force herself to put it down! Have told my dad I'm going to borrow their kitchen as they have more spices than me, so I've had requests too.

Also, I'm not sure if it has been mentioned but when doing the chip shop fish dangle the fish in the oil so that the batter starts to cook then slide the rest of the fish in, watching your fingers, it stops the batter sticking to the bottom of the fryer, or like me deep frying a spoon, I had a go at deep frying fish a couple of weeks ago and only remembered this tip today after reading the book!

You are absolutely right - it's right here!

The good news is (if any one read my previous post) that my copy turned up. It was buried under an avalanche from my £1 / 4 tins Branston baked beans mountain.

The bad news is that it is now slightly dog eared and therefore only worth about £150.
