jojo they do the GTT for me either at the day assessment unit at the hospital where I'm having my baby, bit far away or appointments can be made at the bloods dept in the local small hospital which is where I've been. The most recent one my midwife phoned to make the appointment because they wanted it asap but normally they put in a paper referral and I hear when it is through the post. If you are approaching 28 weeks and haven't heard when the appointment is it might be worth leaving a message with your midwife to double check the referral has gone through and say you haven't heard when it is. Its possible it was lost in the post.
Morning everyone am shattered, gonna drop the kids to school in about 20 mins then go back to bed, oh the excitement of maternity leave lol.0 -
Jojo, does the midwife want a GTT because there is glucose in your wee sample or just for routine reasons? If it's the first then she would have probably booked you in there and then over the phone. If it's for the second reason then I would just ask her again when you see her at the appointment, it can be done at any time...
It's not the most pleasant test in the world and they want me to have one because of my BMI... But I won't be having a routine one, I would go if there was glucose in my urine but not because I'm too fat to fit in their "standard care" boxA very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Thanks dear... No pressure or anything...
Ha ha, mine is December too, on my mums birthday, but she hasnt put that on me lol
Ok so in other news.......I was reading through my notes and spotted that it says I have anterior placenta, is this anything to be concerned about? No-one has said anything about it to me so i presume not. Just wondering what I can expect really Ive seen a couple of other ladies on here talk about it. I know that I wont be feeling as much movement, well, Ive felt a lot of movement on the inside but not on the outside which I thought was odd cos I had felt it on the outside by now with DD. Although saying that I did feel some on the outside last night, but only faint.
Can anyone shed any light?Sealed Pot Challenge Member 151

hngrymummy - I hope you're feeling better. That vertbaudet (sp?) code sounds good. If its generic, please can you post so that I can have a nose?
4764. Feel free to try it out. I can't see me using it anytime soon, so even if it's not generic, I'm not bothered if someone else uses it instead of me.
It's an introductory code, so I guess if you've already ordered you may need to get someone else to order for you at a different address.
Feeling a little better, but still a bit
I think it's the lack of control I have over everything that gets to me. My body's not my own anymore, nor is my life and what I do with it. If I had a getout clause and someone told me that I didn't have to go through any of this, then I'd probably be a stubborn s*d and stick it out (that's just me really, tell me I can't do something and I'll jolly well go off and do it). But I don't. I HAVE to keep going, and I don't like it.

DM/KT you will be fne on your test. My tips, stay calm, don't try and take a peak at the examiners sheet. Make checking mirrors really obvious and almost comical, turn head don't move eyes.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

Sammy I'm also A- and my hospital has just changed it's policy. They were finding many ladies didn't return for their 34 week jab so they now do a bolus injection straight into the vein in the arm at 28 and do your 28 week bloods at the same time. Pretty painless really.
Mine was jabbed in the arm's deltoid muscle for optimum absorption but I researched it (I have *lots* of time:rotfl:) and 2 out of 4 anti-D treatments are administered intravenously.
Also, you must linger around the hospital for 20 minutes following the jab to see what (if any) reaction you have to it. A very very small number of women have an adverse anaphylactic reaction to it but it does not affect the baby.
Routine bloods must be taken BEFORE the anti-D prophylaxis or they will not know if you make the antibodies naturally or not as the anti-D would skew the results.Do they test baby's blood group straight away and then give it immediately after labour or do you go back to hospital for it sometime later?
Blood is taken directly from baby's umbilical cord so bubs will not need to have an injection. If baby is RH positive, an injection is given to you within 72 hours (or pretty quickly to ward off the immune reaction) and blood sample also taken to check for antibodies - if you have quite a lot of antibodies, you'll need to have another Anti-D jab.
Let's all hope we have Positive babies then.;) ++++++++++0 -

Totally agree with this, I did this and was lucky enough to pass 1st time, others I know thought it was over the top then got marked down as the examiner had not realised they were checking mirrors :eek:0 -
lilian I think it depends on the doctor, my mum got signed off really easy with stress in january last year for about 2 weeks.Sammy_Girl wrote: »Evening Ladies
Lilian - Maybe it's worth a trip to the docs. Even if it's just for a week, then at least it gives you a bit of a rest. At the end of the day, you can only do so much work. Is there anyone else you can delegate some of it to? Or have you got a manager you can speak to?
Thanks ladies - I'm seriously thinking about it now. Although our bathroom has now sprung a leak somewhere so actually, being at home would be stressing me out today anyway!
I don't have anyone to delegate to - I'm the only person who is able to do my job, and my cover hasn't been employed yetAnd my boss is a d*ck for want of a better word - he's been here 11 months and still doesn't know how to use the system I administer. Also I find him really creepy so don't really want to have to talk to him!

I have anterior placenta - have you had your 20 week scan (sorry, pregnancy brain, I've forgotten) - if you have then they would have mentioned whether it also means your placenta is covering your cervix and booked you in for a 32/34 week scan to check it's moved. Otherwise it just means it's at the front - but if you're not sure I would ask as if it's going to be an issue you will need another scan. My tip is move the rear view mirror slightly out of your direct eye line as soon as you get in the car. That way every time you go look in it you are prompted to move your head up to look in it.
But what do I know, it took me 7 goes to pass:rotfl:
