  • Re BF and expressing I think it depends on luck, I could only get tiny amounts to start with and it never went above 60mls even after 3 months of trying to BF lol. SO it depends if your boobies want to work or not.

RBG forgot to say I love the scan pics, hoping for some good uns tomorrow.

    SammyGirl pelvic floor excercises...
How to contract the pelvic floor muscles?
This first thing to do is to correctly identify the muscles that need to be exercised.
    * Sit, or lie comfortably with the muscles of your thighs, buttocks and abdomen relaxed.
    * Tighten the ring of muscle around the back passage as if you are trying to control diarrhea or wind. Relax it. Practice this movement several times until you are sure you are exercising the correct muscle. Try not to squeeze your buttocks.
    * When you are passing urine, try to stop the flow mid-stream, then restart it. Only do this to learn which muscles are the correct ones to use and then do it only once a week to check your progress.
    * If you feel comfortable, another way to check that you are using the correct muscle is to place one or two fingers in your vagina then squeeze the pelvic muscles. Squeezing the muscle will grip the fingers. If the muscles are very weak, you may not feel much of a grip until they improve with exercise. Strong muscles will produce a squeezing and drawing up effect.

    DOING PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES

Now that you can feel the muscle working, exercise it by:
    • Tightening and drawing in around the rectum and the vagina and the urethra all at once, lifting it UP inside. Try and hold this contraction as you count to five then release and relax. You should have a definite feeling of "letting go".
    • Repeat ("Squeeze and lift") and relax. It is important to rest for about 10 seconds in between each contraction. If you find it easy to hold for a count of five, try it for longer up – to ten seconds.
    • Repeat this as many times as you are able up to a maximum of 8-10 squeezes.
    • Now do five to ten short, fast, but strong contractions.
    • Do this exercise routinely at least 4-5 times every day.

Dusty - did you post a bump pic? I had to skim a bit my eyes are hurting looking at the computer...got another cold :(

I had my 25 week appointment today. Handed my MATB1 to work. Got my HIP form. Baby is measuring 25 weeks. Blood pressure 100/52, wee sample clear. So all good I think.

Got dates for antenatal classes and start those in December for 3 weeks. Also going to a water birthing class in December which she recommended.

Right need to get off computer now and rest my eyes.

Hugs to all that need them (off the top of my head Hungrymummy is one...)

And Rockin - great scan pic :)

I've started winding down to my maternity leave now - 4 day weeks for the next 4 weeks :D, so had today off, started washing some baby stuff - it was lovely seeing all the tiny things on the line:D

Went for my first antenatal class today too, tagged onto the end of another groups sessions, my proper ones start on 4th November. It was about feeding today, it was really interesting, spoke about pros and cons of both breast and bottle.

Hope everyone is well. Has there not been any babies today 20102010??

My daughter who is 31+1 wks went to the midwife today and was told she is measuring 34/35 weeks. Is this anything to worry about they have told her to come back next week and she might have to see a consultant and have a scan. Last week she had her glucose tested which was fine. This is her 4th pregnancy and each baby has been born heavier than the last 6lb 6oz, 7lb 13lb, 8lb 5oz.

I had a message on my answerphone yesterday from my midwife, they are concerned because my iron levels have dropped further, so have to go to hospital next week and probably will have to intravenous iron :( Must admit I am feeling really tired all the time because of it. The tablets may be helping we'll have to see next week - but I am having no adverse effects with them which is a bonus :D

Hello loves, stressed of Maidstone innit!

Had MW, she struggled to find heartbeat but did eventually, noted reduced foetal movements so I was sent to Fetal Assessment Unit.............

Where she REALLY struggled to find HB.......showed her where MW found it, she tried there and she said "no love that is yours not the baby's"

So actually no HB found........cue 15 min panic of OH. MY. GOD...........til she tried much higher up under my boobs on my right and found him there good and strong. Jesus.

So there is now concern that he has gone breech......having a sweep on Wednesday, if he is not head down then I will be in hosp having a C/S next week.........am in no mood to discuss queue jumping, still recovering from today's shocker :o

Sammy I'm also A- and my hospital has just changed it's policy. They were finding many ladies didn't return for their 34 week jab so they now do a bolus injection straight into the vein in the arm at 28 and do your 28 week bloods at the same time. Pretty painless really. However, I do suspect that if this bean is + I'll get the jab in my rear after birth :eel:

Bloody Hell Emsy I'm surprised that didn't send you into labour - hope you're ok now.

  • Hi all,

I'm afraid you have just all been too chatty, I'm too whacked to read back at the moment.

I will try to catch up tomorrow if I can, I have the builders arriving to start putting the windows and doors and roof on our conservatory! Yay, we've dreamed and talked about this for years now its finally happening!

I have hospital app tomorrow its suppose to be with a consultant but last time it was a juinor Dr, they might not be happy but I plan on asking for the consultant himself as there are some things in my care plan that were missed, and having had a great appointment with the lead midwife, I'm now armed with info about being monitored and have under advice written my birth plan so that he can look at it and hopefully sign it to say he agrees!

I also had an appointment with the haematology nurse last week and blood results have shown low b12 so I have to see my Dr to get 6 b12 injections every other day! EEEEKKKKK!

Anyway, I hope all is well, I haven't had time to read back to see if there any new arrivals Babies or mums to be so congrats to any new ones and I hope to get back up to speed soon.
