I'm guilty of this. But OH does it to me too, so we're even
I'm jealous of NHS Mat pay. Are there conditions associated with it? Like do you have to go back for a minimum period otherwise you have to pay it back?
I just get the basic SMP, but I'm grateful for that. I think we have it really good here with regards to maternity. Some countries just get 6 weeks off (so I've read on other forums)Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Hi Lilian, yeah there are some conditons, this is what the policy says. to be honest, our trust is being dissolved over teh next 3 years so redundancies are around the corner. in an ideal world I'd be made redundant while on mat leave so I get a nice pay out and will return to a new job somewhere else. I'm very bored of this job and before I got my BFP was having interviews elsewhere. I think if i didn't return they wouldn't chase me for the mat leave as it would be one less redundancy they'd have to make. That all seems like a long way away though just now

Entitlements for employees not returning to work in the NHS
Not returning for at least 3 monthsIf an employee does not intend to return to work for the Trust or another NHS employer for at least 3 months after the maternity leave has ended they may only be entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay.
If you are not eligible for SMP you will be advised to claim Maternity Allowance by the Payroll Department through the Department of Works & PensionsFailure to Return to WorkIf an employee who has notified the employer of their intention to return to work for the same or a different NHS employer in accordance with section 2.2 fails to do so within 15 months of the beginning of the maternity / adoption leave they will be liable to refund the whole of the maternity / adoption pay, less any Statutory Maternity Pay received.
In cases where the employer considers that to enforce this provision would cause undue hardship or distress the employer will have the discretion to waive their rights to recovery.0 -

CongratulationsThe pod landed and produced baby Timothy on 10th March 20110 -
Congrats threemutleys
This is my maternity entitlement:
6 weeks at 90% of pay
12 weeks at half pay + SMP (half pay must be paid back if you do not return to work for minimum of three months)
21 weeks at SMP or 90% of pay if less than SMP.
On the form which you complete to apply for your leave you can tick a box to say you are unsure if you will be returning and they do not then pay the half pay part until you've returned to work. This is what I will be ticking as I am pretty sure I will not be returning but still want to get the following 21 weeks SMP out of them before I inform them as I will not have to pay that backOne day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170 -

In other news...got my HIP grant in my bank account this morning
Hi MV. Congrats on getting HIP grant...mine took 2 weeks to process too. Very impressed.
If the midwives continue to struggle to locate baby's head and general position by palpating your tum over a few weeks, they might refer you for a scan.
I had presentation scan at 37+2 this Tuesday because at my 2 previous midwife visits there was a possibility the baby was breech
(no-one had a clue - not even me!:o). The scan took 5 minutes and focused purely on the head and torso...never got a chance to see baby's 'bits' but was told I was now "nicely engaged" and to go and have a nice straight forward labour.:)
Congrats on your early arrival, threeMuttleys :j
