I think shops are trying to blind us with science like they do when buying yourself a new mattress with 'new technology' 'coil springs' etc etc they know they can get away with it coz we all want whats best for our babies!
As for sleeping in drawers...thats where I slept for the 1st 3months of my life until parents finally persuaded my sister that it was time for a 'big girls' bed :D
You edited your post! See, I agree with this. I think all these buzz words are used to try and get parents to assume things are safer or whatever and therefore spend more money. But then I do have quite different views from other people about babies, what items are necessary and how to bring them up :s I've already had some friends disapprove at my opinions, so I try and keep my mouth shut now. But I do like to get other peoples opinions so I can make my own mind up.

Yay Fairy for feeling bubs more.

    Yay Dusty for winning lol

Um, I'm going to admit to skipping past all previous RLT conversations :o What does it do?

Oh and my missed question a while ago was
    What mattress do I get?

Giz we got this one: http://www.mothercare.com/b/206264031/ref=sc_iw_c_1_0_206463031?n=206463031

It is super duper and expensive but we got it for half price as we bought our cotbed at the same time.

Giz, we've bought this mattress It seemed good quality and has a removable cover in case of accidents. I'm figuring as it's a cot bed then Flump will be in it for 3-4 years and wasn't sure a cheap foam mattress would last that long.

I googled and babycenter says as far as SIDS is concerned, any type of mattress is fine as long as it's firm.
that one I linked to is 140 x 70:D I agree with babycentre, so long as it's firm so bubs' face can't get smushed into the mattress then it'll be fine...Krystals girls have proved that:D

I'm quite old fashioned(tight fisted:p) on my views of what baby will need I'll get what I consider to be the safest and then find the cheapest:) my kid my choice:D and £100 for a mattress errrrrrr, No! Thats what happens when you shop at M&Ps:p:rotfl:
Oh and I hate being told what to buy by shops selling products so resist as much as poss:D

ah the date confusion...took me ages to get used to it:o although you're 19+2 you're in your 20th week of pregnancy so depending on who you speak to and how they look at it you'll either be 19 or 20 weeks pg!
Personally I go off what has already passed so tell people I'm 37weeks pg rather than I'm in my 38th week, ven though my baby emails all tell me I'm 38weeks pg*sigh* Its dead confusing and not easy to explain..just hope I haven't confused anyone further:D

I'm bored now! boss has been, patronized and gone again and the lads are looking out the window watching our daily soap opera...a cat and dog who is severely bullied and taunted by the cat...it is quite funny tbh:D:rotfl:

  • I think there's snobbery in everything, and buying for a baby is no different.

For us, with everything we have bought, we tested and read up as much as possible first and didnt just go for the most expensive or trendy brands.

The mattress we chose was expensive, and there is no way I would have paid £150 for it, but as it was a 'buy cotbed and get mattress half price' offer, we decided to go for it as it cost £75 in the end.

We did go for an eye-wateringly expensive Bugaboo Chameleon buggy, but again we tested loads and it's the one we liked best. + grandparents kindly paid for it, so we are very lucky indeed there :)

  • I was baffled when I went for my dating scan as I knew for a fact that I was exactly 12 weeks and 1 day, however she put me a whole week further on..how does that work then????

:o We've decided to blow our budget on the pushchair. But otherwise I like to be as MSE as possible. As for M&P - in my defence it's the only shop near me that actually stocks stuff to touch and feel. Our mothercare is quite frankly pants (mainly just clothes) and toysrus are miles away.

No that makes no sense if she put you further on - ignore my pregnant brain - teach me to read things properly
