congrats nepthys xx
So I told OH if her didn't go int he loft I would and he told me I wouldn't fit grrr. He did go get the bits out though so at least I have a better idea of what we have and what we don't. I think the moses basket sheets and muslin might be buried at the bottom of the airing cupboard so finding them is tomorrows task.0 -

Obviously I want the best for baby, but do you have to pay £150? The midwife tells me how she had someone recently who couldn't afford a cot, so were having the baby in a box for a while and that it's perfectly fine. I've heard of relatives sleeping in drawers as a baby...
So I guess my question is, what do these top of the range mattresses offer over a lower quality foam mattress for £30? My budget was going to be £100.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -

This is the mattress that came with our cotbed and after taking it out of the packaging and having a good squeeze, although its the basic one it's really good quality and has a waterproof covering which is essential I think:)
I think shops are trying to blind us with science like they do when buying yourself a new mattress with 'new technology' 'coil springs' etc etc they know they can get away with it coz we all want whats best for our babies!
As for sleeping in drawers...thats where I slept for the 1st 3months of my life until parents finally persuaded my sister that it was time for a 'big girls' bed1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:

I googled and babycenter says as far as SIDS is concerned, any type of mattress is fine as long as it's firm.Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -
DD1 slept on the basic mattress that came with the cotbed for 5 years... DD2 went onto that mattress last week, doesn't seem to have bothered either of them
Although the cheap mattress we had with the Ikea cot that this baby will be going into is really thick and nicely sprung... And not too expensive I don't think... Although it's not waterproof...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...My Fathers Daughter wrote: »Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
