hi all
my little munchkin is asleep on me so thought i'd check in on you all! We are doing pretty well although i am struggling on and off with the bfing. my breasts are so massive and we often don't get a good latch. this morning i realised after 15 mins that his tongue was above not below my nipple so he'd not been swallowing. i was heartbrokenmy mum is now here til sat so hoping she can help - she's currently cleaning. waiting for health visitor who is lovely and will weigh him. i'm still pretty emotional from the birth and first night scare but sure that's normal. meeting sir monster tomorrow we've been texting a lot to support each other.
i'm loving being a mum though and totally besotted by my son!!!
Bravo and well done for breastfeeding :T:T:TI'm 38 JJ cup and I could do it, so hang in there.Hi all,
Sorry I haven't been online for a while...I have pushed in front of a lot of you and gave birth on Sept 29th 2010 at 10:30pm to a little boy. 8 weeks early, as he couldn't wait! He weighed 3lb 11oz and is in the special care unit at the moment. Doing really well there, has put on some weight and is coming off all the leads etc.
Hopefully we will be able to bring him home within a few weeks, spend most of my day at the hosp, so ill check in when I can.
H
Congratulations and welcome and God Bless to your little boy.Happy Full Term date, **Confuzzled**

I have had the flu jab and last year had the swine flu jab as i am severely asthmatic, and have never had any side effects.
I am still trying to decide whether i have the jab before or after the bean is born, as only a few weeks left for me.
But last night may have changed things as i spent 3 hrs in Casualty with an asthma attack! Not great for bubs!!But a minor infection was found in my lungs and no medication was given as we all agreed that if i got worse i would see GP, but stubborn me is in work, feeling weak, wobbly, emotional and wheezy! Have been told by boss to go home, so when i can get the car key i will take myself home to bed!
Flu jabs work for many vunerable people and only a few get any side effects. It is best to speak to your midwife or gp about it if you are worried.Leopardlady

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the flu vaccine. As has been stated it is very much a matter of personal choice with no wrong or right answer. I suppose it's just one of many decisions we'll have to make for our ourselves and our babies in the coming years...sudden dawning of responsibility .
For me I will have the vaccine if that is the current best medical advice available. I'm seeing my MW on Wed so will ask about it then.

Me too, I almost didn't post about the name but it is just too spooky!!:rotfl:
Right, that's it, no more copying from now on!!0 -
Dusty the ginger gene is a funny thing so best to keep an open mind about colouring. It skipped a generation with my parents but I got it. Hated it as a kid, now I get a little sad when I see cute ginger kids knowing that I won't be having one and feeling like I'm rejecting my natural heritage.
This flu jab thing seems a bit hit and miss in terms of who its being offered to, I haven't heard anything from my surgery, I wonder if there is any cut off point or order in which they are approaching women, I mean there would hardly be any point if you were due in the next few weeks or so.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
Plus he has over 80 first cousins and it's a family insult to repeat a name, so any names I do find he has to check off with his Mother to see if there's anyone with a matching name and surname (no, he can't do it himself, he only knows about half their names:eek:)

My OH is the opposite! His cousin has the same name as him (born around the same time and living on the same street!), also shared by an uncle and granddad. He doesn't see any problem in repeating a name.
It's funny but he also really likes a name shared by a family member he really dislikes - and has no problem with it at all!0 -
Hiya All
Just came over from the 12 week thread coz I have been offline for a few weeks and am now 19+4.....been having a bit of a nightmare of a pregnancy and am now off work again with a recurrent UTi (what fun :S) Anyways have been reading the posts and seeing a few names I recognise from the other thread so hopefully will be keeping in touch this time lol
As for the flu jab, I have already had a dose of the flu so far this year and it was nasty so as soon as I am offered mine I am getting it...I think...I'm still undecided coz I am asthmatic and I have found in previous years I don't suffer as badly.
Going for some popcorn (my latest craving lol) so catch you all in a bit xxxxThe pod landed and produced baby Timothy on 10th March 20110 -
My cousin is a GP (Female and 31) I asked her about the Swine flu jab, as at my booking appointment I was asked to get it. She said she has to tell pregnant patients to get it, but if she was pregnant, she wouldn't take it. She said if you are in good health and don't have any medical problems, you are at low risk of catching it and extremely low risk of having anything other than mild flu symptoms if you do catch it.
My sister in law is a nurse and she was preganant last year and decided not to take the vaccine for swine flu.
I didn't take it (fingers crossed I don't catch it in the next 5 weeks).0 -
ps - tens machine, i only used mine for a bit in the night and didn't get the pads on properly as there was no one to help. i'm selling it now as i will have to have planned section with any more babies so pm me if anyone is interested...it's this oneMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0
