For the experienced ladies out there, is TENS really any good? I'm planning on doing the later stages in water with G&A but thought TENS might be useful for early on at home and the car journey???

I think some people find it better than others. I had one last time, but to be honest, I think the distraction was the most helpful thing for me, giving me something else to think about in the early stages. Saying that, I have tried one before for something else and didn't find it did much for me then either, so I might just be a bit unlucky.

I don't think I am going to bother this time (am planning a pool at home instead), but I know some folk swear by them - they do have the advantage that they are not drugs, and that you can take them off anytime if you don't like it or it isn't working for you. It might be worth a try on that basis alone.

Duemarch any flu CAN be a killer not just swine flu, also it doesn't protect against every strain of flu just the one they have predicted will be the prevalent this flu season, so you could still get flu just a different strain. The side effects should also be considered before having any vaccination. Its something everyone has to decide for themselves a bit like weather to have the nuchal scan etc I'll not be getting the flu jab but then I've not heard anything from the doctors so they can't be too concerned about me.

Claire, my TENS machine came on Friday and we've had fun practising with it on my forearms- it made me giggle constantly - (like pins and needles).
I know I won't be chuckling through any stages of labour but like Chakani said...distraction is great in itself and once OH gets the controls, I'm sure I'll be focussed on him treating me like Frankenstein's monster.

I've not heard anything from my doctors either and I'm 25 weeks on Friday so guessing I won't?

    hi all

my little munchkin is asleep on me so thought i'd check in on you all! We are doing pretty well although i am struggling on and off with the bfing. my breasts are so massive and we often don't get a good latch. this morning i realised after 15 mins that his tongue was above not below my nipple so he'd not been swallowing. i was heartbroken :( my mum is now here til sat so hoping she can help - she's currently cleaning. waiting for health visitor who is lovely and will weigh him. i'm still pretty emotional from the birth and first night scare but sure that's normal. meeting sir monster tomorrow we've been texting a lot to support each other.

i'm loving being a mum though and totally besotted by my son!!!

due march don't mean to offend sorry, just feel both opinions should be expressed so people can make up their own minds, do not keep you mouth shut because of anything I've said, its only my opinion and I could be completely wrong, I just feel there is alot of panic about flu and unless you have a predisposition for being at particular risk it isn't worth getting vaccinated unless you want to.

Claire - I have personally refused all flu vaccines. I agreed once and ended up hospitalised with side effects of the vaccine so never again for me.
